i just cant stand how gibby talks...most of the time i cant understand what the (frank) he is saying.

- senstroll

He's from Texas. I'm guessing this is probably true for anyone from the mid-south?

decent players? I guess, if you think Grabner is decent (I don't)

But he also had decent numbers. and is on a decent contract.

Now to turn "decent" into "good"

Not every player can turn Komarov into an All-Star, you're right

- WingmanWillie

Someone from the team had to go to the all star game from the leafs....notice it wasnt kadri.

Did he even make the WC team canada?

He's a decent player, playing as he was expected to.

I never said that.
I wanted him for no more than 4.5......Lou did great.
Great cap hit and term.

Makes him a good tradable asset.

- Fakepartofme

Exactly my thoughts too. He's 2B - 2A center and paid like a 2B to a 3A center.

grabovski was a 55-60 pt center, what happened to him and where was his love?
- Lucas.Neilson

Grabo played with great players.

To a degree, sure. At the same time, I think over-valuing the unimportance of a good manager is also overrated
- 1979AD

I don't not disagree that the unimportance of a manager is not important and not under-rated.

Price signed for 217 million...thats nuts
I mean I wish they sent an offer... but why bother

- senstroll

cause he apparently would have signed with the jays for less.....as reported.

You want a game changer...you have to pay in the majors.

I'm parroting someone here but a conversation I had with a buddy who is far more into baseball made an interesting point about Gibbons. I asked him what he thought of him as a manager and he said one thing he measures managers by is if they get fired from a team, do they ever get work again with another club? Gibbons was fired by the Jays once before and never got hired again until they hired him.

Maybe the rest of the league sees something.

He was Alex's rebound guy after he found Farrell in bed with the Red Sox right after the honeymoon. Someone he knew wouldn't cheat on him and make him feel good about himself again.

i would hesitate to say this... he played in all 82 games the last two years and wasnt able to crack 30 goals in either of them

other teams are starting to figure out how to defend against him... and maybe he's losing a step as he gets older as well? though i think its a bit early to start saying that about him

- Dozzer

But yet he was able to score 30 the previous 5 seasons.
Also 25 and 26 this season.....some of which as you pointed was on the 3rd line.

It took teams 7 years to figure out how to keep him to around 25 goals.
Not too shabby.

If you didn't personally run it, what separates a good marathon from a mediocre marathon?

Seeing people work their ass off and finish a marathon is good IMO. Therefore the marathon was good.

Plus the women's race was close until the last mile and the men's wheel chair race was real close.
