they didn't even fire him from what i hear. didn't he only have a one year contract and it's not being renewed? firing him would require Bergevin actively doing something. - DoubleDown
Firing is hard.

My niece's little fella was up a minimum of 6 times a night, (frank)in' near drove her mental, anyway they hired this sleep guru.
Within 2 days the little bugger was sleeping through the night 7pm to 7am, like a (frank)in' clock.
Cost them $500. |

Well if you've done all you can, hang your hat on that.
One day she'll realize that enabling him ain't the answer.
Also, according to my co-workers, the maturity age is now 28-30..good lord. - pete26 I am late to this conversation, but this really hits a nerve with me.
While I agree 18 is a tad young given the times, people should have their stuff together by the time they are 22. Whether in college, vocational school or straight to work you have had ample time as an adult and should be able to manage.
That said; I have a handful of 23-28 year old people that work in my group and some still refer to themselves as 'kids' and often say things, out loud, along the lines of "I really don't feel like an adult most of the time." These are the same 'kids' that got their stock bonuses last year and immediately did things like buy a Mercedes, BMW, etc. Then complain about being broke after a long weekend of partying... smh.
I would roll my eyes and say "millennials", but they were enabled by their parents in most instances by direct parenting and by over-parenting them in times of crisis... when you often mature the most. The term crisis got downgraded too, most of them had parents making sure their homework was perfect every day and counted the seconds in their kids games to ensure they got fair play-time.

And they seem to have a sense of "I want, therefore I deserve". The days of working long hours/overnighters on big projects are over. Even overtime is becoming scarce in some businesses...all in the name of a "Work/Life Balance".
Most of these "kids" have no idea what it's like to actually struggle. |
