It would be helpful if you framed this argument with the annual revenues of said business.

A company pulling in $2 mil in revenue while paying $1 mil in salaries has a starkly different outlook than a company pulling in $10 mil in revenue and paying the same $1 mil in salaries.

Maybe get a new scouting and developing staff that can get you some valuable assets that teams would want in a trade. Nikita Sherbak looked great for 2 games in St johns.
