A little while ago they had Danny Briere on the radio.
He said there is great value in having the young players experience what it feels like to win a playoff game. So there is something to play for in game 4.
He commented on the bracelet throwing. He said players understand what it's like to be booed when they play bad. What as a player they hate is getting a penalty called because of fan behavior. Guys like Schultz and Gudas are out there blocking shots when it's already 5-1 and then the fans extend the PP. Blocking OVs one timer is no joke and puts these guys in danger.
I love Danny. His playoff performance was the definition of clutch. A guy his size finding ways to score and make a difference. Seeing how tough it is right now to get any space. Really appreciate more what Briere accomplished.
He gives credit to how tight the Caps D has been. He's 100% right on these things. - Marc D
I wish Schultz would have just said Uncle and claimed injury. That guy took at least 4 Ovi slappers off the right leg/foot last night and could barely skate during that 5 on 3 power play. I felt sorry for him.
Gudas wasn't out there for it he got tossed when Bellemare did for a 10 min misconduct. It was Schultz and AMac for the most part.

Does anyone think there will be changes to the assistants?
The PP seems to have gotten stagnate these past two years and the PK hasn't seemed to improve? - J35Bacher
Lappy needs to go. I don't really have an issue with Gord Murphy. He seems to be okay. |

So have we abandoned the long term view and tempered expectations after these last 3 games? Sure it sucks they lost three straight the way we have, but that's the only thing I'm frustrated with. I'm still proud of the run they went on. I wish G and Voracek could have stepped up a little more. Ghost is obviously hurting or gassed. He hasn't looked the same.
I'm just hoping to have one good game tomorrow and avoid the sweep at home. - funmaster18
At the outset, I said the only way I'd be let down is if they got swept, because they're learning how to lose in the playoffs. I think they're learning how easy it is to lose a game as opposed to how hard it is to win a game. |

Lappy needs to go. The PK just stands around and dares people to take one timers as they allow passes clean through the box they stand in. |

Some people enjoy it when their team makes playoffs.. Others don't. Would you have preferred they not even make the season entertaining and call it quits back in December? - Trainfellow
You misconstrued my point. I'm a Flyers fan...always was, always will be. I ended my comment with hindsight is 20/20...which means, had I known they were going to be embarrassed like this, I would have much rather missed the playoffs. Take solace in the fact that they played extremely well down the stretch and became a "team" in the second half of the season. |

What they can blow up is the veteran non-core players on this team. Time to move forward. Read, Umberger, Streit, AMac. I want three if not all of them off the team next year. - hereticpride
I doubt there will be some explosive mass exodus, but over the next two offseasons there will be a big shift and G, Simmonds, Mase, and MDZ will be the veterans |

I agree. I think the passive box is going the way of the Rosehill. It seems like the top PK teams are aggressive and pressure you, instead of letting a team as talented as the Caps move the puck freely. |

Special teams definitely lost this series. But you have to give it to Washington, they have a top 5 PP and a top 2 penalty kill going in to the playoffs.
That is what separates 120 point Presidents trophy winners from 96 point 8th seeds.
But by all means, lets blow it up.

And it that will probably change when they have more mobility on the back end. |

Hilarious that people are suggesting to blow it up when the Flyers have arguably outplayed the Capitals at even strength. Shooting and Save % do wonderful things.
The facts are that there is not a single team in the NHL that would win a series with the same lopsided numbers on special teams. Not one. It is a dagger, candle stick, rope, machine gun...whatever you want to call it. Special teams have blown a hole in the series and the fact that the Flyers aren't doing anything besides sit back and let the Caps continue to take shots is extremely frustrating.
I refuse to let it hide the fact that at even strength, the Flyers are doing more than holding on. They are getting good chances they just cannot get Holtby out of position often enough. They showed a lot of pride and heart pushing into the playoffs as well, so to act like they just got in and rolled over is laughable. This team has its flaws, and they are being exploited to the max. It doesn't change the fact that this team has brought us all more entertainment and joy this year than we all expected. I am sure they will learn, they will adjust, they may get new personnel and coaching, and will come back stronger. - YuenglingJagr
"The refs are screwing us".ahahahah I knew THAT was coming...."we outplayed them if it wasn't for the refs..ahahahhahaha
If Giroux and Voracek are the guys you want leading this team...so be it....maybe you should sign them to huge extensions...only make OUR job easier....
Good luck in future seasons

I think you are using recency bias to say thats how you would feel. The Flyers played themselves into a great position to make the stretch. If they lost the last 4 games and missed by a point after games like CBJ and TOR, you really would've felt fine about it?
I think everyone would feel the same, it would just be less acute than it is now due to last night. Hopefully we see a fun game 4. Hopefully it was valuable experience. They move back like 2 spots in the draft it is not a big deal at all. |

I hope so. And I understand that the coach has to make do with what he has. But mobile or not, standing around and letting Washington pass and shoot at will is clearly not working. I know it's late to make wholesale adjustments, but I'd at least tell the forwards to pressure on the walls. |

A true leader in buffalo....
last night Ryan O`Reilly ran his pickup truck into an Ontario Tim Horton's, fled the scene of the crime, abandoned his car further down the road, and was then later picked up by police along with a friend. Making things worse, O'Reilly was tested with a blood alcohol level of .08. |

Nice try. I don't see a single word about the refs in my post, and I can assure you that no one else does either. I will gladly sit back and enjoy two great hockey players and people leading the team I follow and care for. Keep trolling though, you are making yourself look like a genius. Enjoy knowing that years of purposeful tanking has still gotten the Sabres absolutely nowhere |

Yeah.
What happened to Read? He pressure's no one and seems to have lost all speed.
And for coaches, Luke Richardson would interest me. Not because he was a flyer but he did really well with the youth in Ottawa. Guys like Hoffman, Stone, Pageau, Lazar. |

Really? Do I need to explain again?
No, I would not feel fine about it, BUT I would appreciate their play as of late and look forward to next year HAD I KNOWN the result would be this. Hence, the "hindsight". |
