it's unfortunate that they look as bad, if not worse, as they have all season once they finally got the playoffs. It's unwatchable hockey. - wilsonecho91
That Pens game destroyed them. They really thought they could go in there and come out with 2 pts and they just got dominated. Never played the same the rest of the season. Backed in playing Scranton Wilkes-Barre and added another two because the Isles didn't want to draw the Pens in the playoffs.
I was excited over the playoff push until they went completely flat with two weeks left. |

Meh. I'm not in the over-rated camp, but he certainly hasn't done anything in the playoffs, that's for sure. And the whole "it's easy to key on him cause we have weak secondary scoring" argument is lame for 2 reasons: he's looked ineffective on the powerplay, and no matter how much teams focus on you, they still only have 5 guys on the ice at a time and they still have to outwork you.
G, Jake and Simmonds should be able to create space and chances for themselves that result in some points, more than 1 over 3 games.
Giroux, with all those PP and ES minutes, has 6 shots over 3 games. Gotta be better than that. - wolfhounds
THIS YEAR's playoffs. So maybe he's cooked, maybe he's injured, maybe they have fewer options than they've had around him in his career. But don't talk like he's 0 for 5 playoff runs. Prior to this year he was more than a point per game player. This could be a perfect bad storm. Or he may suck. I suspect from the evidence, he does not suck.
ETA: Or maybe playing the PK really was more ice than you should expect from your #1 center and #1 PP QB |

When they other team is deep and doesn't get scared by any line other then the g line it's s bad combination. Even at home the caps can still throw out a line that can hold the g line in check . After that line what do we have ? I'd go with
Rafl g jake
Gagner schenn simmonds
Laughton cousins read
Keep the same 4th line. At least this way it gives maybe two scoring lines. We need better bottom 6 players. |

If he comes up empty next game that won't be true anymore.

Justin Abdelkader. What do you guys think of him right now? Frankly I'm sick of listening to Detroit defend him right now. |

That's fine. My whole issue with him right now is he beat a player repeatedly while he was down, defeneless and left him bloody. The argument from a kid I know " Well he jumped on his back". Like the kid keeps using this as his argument. It just sounds so whiney and it proves the Wings don't see enough fights. Also there is this expectation that Boyle shouldn't want redemptions for his teammate. It's just such garbage in my mind. |

Because of the Blundell fight? Or because he wouldn't fight Boyle after the game was over and risk a suspension for fighting with a taped hand?
Would TB's coach have been fined for the fight in the last minutes if it came after the horn? (Yes.) Would Boyle have been suspended for instigation in that situation? I'm not sure. Would it be a good tradeoff? No. Abdelkader is a better player than Boyle. And apparently a smarter one. |

And that youth movement went to the playoffs and won a series...you are misguided in your direction of blame for the playoff futility. how can you seriously look at everything that has unfolded since then and try to stake the blame on the few core players that have actually produced and done something at an above average rate. I dont get it one bit. Who cares if they had a good team with bad goaltending or a bad team with good goaltending. It all adds up to something and the result hasnt been great. The entire team needs to develop together which is what is happening now, instead of trading for Pavel Kubina at a stupid chance to win a playoff game.
You are so biased in your thinking. The previous teams which had Carter and Richards did it WITH THE HELP of Giroux and the "younger players" Please tell me who is helping Giroux and Voracek now? Seriously? For two years there was absolutely ZERO secondary scoring. They have been carrying this team out of the cellar along with Mason for years now and you cant appreciate that. You need to look past the fact that they "havent won a series since 2012" because two players cannot win you a playoff series.
In that same time frame the Penguins have won 3 series and 0 cups...with 2 of the best players in the world getting paid MORE than G and Jake (a lot more over that time) and an elite defenseman. People need to stop watching a hockey game and then venting about every single thing they come up with in their head - YuenglingJagr

I don't buy this. They were a borderline team with very limited scoring. Basically just one line. Facing a team that plans for you and plans ways to match up against your players is a recipe for disaster. Especially when that team is deep in talent. It would have taken mason stealing games and scoring on the pp and not allowing the caps to score on their pp to even have a chance to go to 7 games. Enjoy the playoffs and think it's just building blocks. Next years team seems like it could be much better.... With growing pains. |

You don't buy what? Not looking forward to the playoffs because they went completely flat in the last two weeks of the season and ended up backing in?
'cause that was the point. |

Listening to radio from the center of the hockey universe I heard two guys say fine only, three guys say 1-3 but closer to one and Andy Petrillo who wanted the book thrown at him. |

See, this is what I saw and thought it might get Bellemare fewer games:
“If you watch this really closely, Pierre-Edouard is going in on the forecheck to battle hard for the puck,” Hextall explained. “He’s got one hand on the stick. There’s no cross-check. There’s no nothing.
“If you look closely, there’s no force that he applies. What happened was, Orlov stops, or put on the brakes, and Belly’s momentum goes into him and propels him into the boards. So, it’s that Belly’s responsibility, or is it the defenceman’s responsibility?
“What do you do when a guy slams on the brakes and lowers his body and is propelled into the boards? Again, is it Belly’s fault or is it the defenceman’s fault?"

Would've given him a game, maybe two
I do think Orlov needs to take the hit that's coming -- he put himself in a bad position by trying to not take the hit into the boards, IMO |
