I would disagree, We have a ton of cap room and why not go for it. Imagine the lines like this.
Kane-Oreilly-New player/Fasching
Reinhart-Eichel-New player
Moulson-Girgenson-Ennis-
Foligno-Larsson-Gionta-
Stamkos could be one of the new players and we have our high draft pick.( #1-3 please!!!!) If that 3rd line could regain chemistry from two years ago, that was our line 1. Now our good 3rd line becomes a great 4th line. - Fiasco
Only 28 players had 30 or more goals this year. Not sure if ROR is in the top 30 in salary for forwards (although he is up there). I'd expect 25-40-65 as his average moving forward. If Jack can take the 1st line duties down the road and ROR gets to play against the 2nd pairing then maybe he'd get more. Also depends on who his linemates are. Another stat I'd like to see is how many of his goals came when 88 was here v when he was traded. - Zschalberg
According to GeneralFanager, his Cap Hit is 6M, which puts him tied for 31st (with about 9 other players) for all forwards

Chipping in from last blog re: Makarov.. I agree with the Sabres letting him go. He has not consistently shown that he is an NHL caliber goalie. He's even been benched for long periods of time for Nathan Lieuwen, who is a consistently average AHL goalie. Makarov has shown that he has a higher ability than Lieuwen, but also can get decimated just a day after a big SO. He doesn't have the skill set to be a reliable NHL backup, and therefore, doesn't need to be retained. His trade value is extremely low and he has interest in going back to Russia. You can't sell those kinda guys. Nashville couldn't even sell Radulov. We have Ullmark and Kasdorf taking the reigns next year in Rochester, and rightly so. We'll sign a back up probably not named Chad Johnson. And after next season or even maybe in the next 2 seasons, Cal Petersen and Jonas Johannson will be looking to join the Amerks. There's no room for stagnant talent anymore.
So to sum, goodbye and thanks for the dedication to the organization.

In unrelated news. The Yotes are moving their AHL franchise to Tucson. That's great news for me. I have hockey close enough not to require and overnighter..!!!

It's a nice idea and I'd love to see it work. It's 3 players that performed well under the old non-system and have struggled (in Ennis' case I still put quotes on that "struggled") adjusting to the new system. Were they a product of the free wheeling freedom or was there real chemistry there? Let's not forget that those three went -11, -16, -19 respectively as well although that year was hard for a lot of players +/-.
I'd be more willing to put 63 in the top 6 and see what happens. Lastly, that 4th line isn't much of a grinding line. They can do some hits but they're not going to wear anyone down. Might be an issue but if they're scoring great.
Also, fun stat time, Tyson Strachan had a -30 +/- last year good for 2nd worst on the team. Risto had a -32 in 78 games. Strachan only played in 46 games though

4g, 7a after McGinn left - stashu
There it is. So if he can get 30 goals I feel like we're getting a great value.
One thing I'd like to see, and I don't know if this is tracked anywhere, is how many of a players points were from another player. So you could see how many point Jack had where he assisted or was assisted by ROR. It'd be a nice thing to have especially when talking about it player A good or is he more of a product of player B

I'm planning a trip to Arizona in June. Would have loved to go to a Coyotes game, but god knows when there will be Arizona hockey in June.

60 points is really impressive now, this year only 40 players had more than 60points in the league, last year 48 players, year before that only 44 players. thats roughly in the top 5% of all players in the league
its getting harder and harder to score, if you hit 60 points is that very good to exceptional status. Its not elite or superstar, but there is only a handful of those anyways - DDM-Coga
Statistics, facts and good points..? You're on the wrong site.
Regarding the "C". I dont think it's an issue at all. If you heard 15 &23 talk about ROR (at any point of the season) you could tell they respect him and is work ethic.
Rivet mentioned yesterday that some teams have the best leader as the "C" while others just have the best player. Also said either way the real leaders will always step up letter or not.

Buffalo and Detroit games are like home games. Lot's of displaced hockey fans from those cities. They just did a promo to trade your old team's jersey for a Yotes Jersey. I was proud to see no Sabres jersey's. The desert is filled with Canadians during the winter to.

I'd like to go to games in as many cities as possible. So far I only have one checked off the list, Buffalo.
