I'm sure you're right, it's my failure to remember when things happen.

1/13/03 They filed for BK protection.

They were valued at $92 mil at the time.

I was shocked myself. Those were bad numbers and I'm not someone who can just recall the year and what may have been going on to explain why it happened.
- stashu

I did find this article, it appears that that was the year when the Rigas scandal broke and they were charged with fraud.

Bankruptcy plus a team that was already trending downward. It was the 2nd season after Hasek left.

Ottawa was also bankrupt at the time but they had one of the better records in the league. I think they even had the top record in the conference by playoff time. Their attendance wasn't hurting.

They filed BK on 1/8/03 and at the time had the best record in the league.

We had no owner at the time, had the 2nd worst record, and the team was dismantled.

#1

Won't know if they were the wrong moves till mid season. By then most will have forgotten their picks of this question.

Well maybe not you but you get my drift.

I would agree except the team that did it was Edmonton. They had zero to gain by it.
- buffalofan19

That and Edmonton tried getting another player on an offer sheet too if I remember the next year.

They made some awful moves after their cup appearance

Edit: it was Dustin Penner

That one is up there for worst I've ever seen, although the BU goalie had a gem last year in the frozen four. It was so bad it was almost unbelievable.

Having said that, I am too lazy to look up a link.

Is it even going to be the same actor? Thought I heard some movie (whether solo or Justice League type) wasn't going to have the same guy as either Flash or Arrow
- stashu

Yea Flash is being play by Erza Miller... and i don't believe they will have a Green Arrow in Justice League

Our prospect pool may have taken a hit recently but it's a really nice one. We still have seven 2nd round picks in the system and that's quite a bit more than most.

That's a very good write-up, but I stopped paying careful attention when I got to Krasdorf. From what I saw of him this year, NHL fans don't need to pay attention to anyone at his level or below.

I'm sure I'm going to sound dumb asking, but I'll explain my thinking on this...but why are RWers preferred to be right-handed?

I would think if you were left-handed and play on the RW that it gives you better angles to shoot at the net from, and also leaves your stick trailing the play which - while it may be an incorrect thought - would make it easier to accept a pass for a quick shot.

I'm left-handed when it comes to hockey (though right handed for writing and such), so if I envision myself on the ice, it "looks" awkward to me that I'd be placed on the left wing.

I see the advantage when rushing/carrying the puck up ice, but what % of the game is played that way as opposed to in-zone setting up and pass plays?

Also, defensively I'd think a forward would be best to have their stick in the middle of the ice.

Obviously these are long decided "rules" for positions, but having never played hockey outside of street hockey or in gym class, I don't have any education on why this is.

I am left handed, played RW

better shooting angle

I always felt I had to use my backhand when parked down low playing LW

According to HockeysFuture.com
We have 18 forwards with top9 potential
Obviously not all of those will work out, and none are rated as top line prospects...
But we only need a couple of these guys to work out.
We're in pretty good shape still

However, on defense we pretty much just have Guhle who has top4 potential
Other guys like Florentino & Borgen probably end up being 3rd pair guys.
I'd use most of our 2nd & 3rd round picks on defensemen over the next 2 drafts. Best available player with the 1sts
