A left handed shooting person playing right wing will be giving and accepting passes on the backhand unless they have their stick trailing behind them. They will also be accepting pucks that come around the boards on the backhand. And they can also keep the puck on their stick to the outside using their body to shield it. But, yeah, when it comes to shooting it's better to be inside. - sskkoo1
I think this is the reason Ennis can play on his off wing. Players like Ennis who have the stick handling skills to accept the puck on the backhand and quickly transition to their forehand should be able to make the adjustment to the off wing |

This is what I was thinking - this is the best way to play the wall on your forehand rather than your backhand. - Der Kaiser
That was the thing I thought most on my own before asking, more than the consideration of protecting the puck while skating up ice. It's why I figure, but need to look (or you kind folks and tell me) to see how d-men play. In my head I pictured lefties play RW and LD, swap for righties.
RHD playing RD make sense in my head - strong hand for keeping pucks in the offensive zone and for stronger stick work to keep players on the outside in your own zone.
I imagine I'm wrong there too though. |

Thanks to you and the rest of you who have answered this. Most are answers I could come up with when thinking about it, but hearing it from people who may know it as truth more than I do and possibly have a background in any remote form of organized hockey was helpful.
I guess it all boils down to the # and weight of the pros vs. cons. I really only see the 2 pros I mentioned (better shooting angles and defensive stick placement in your zone) compared to more cons.
The "weight" of the pros is kind of heavy though, as I think I'd be in favor of having better shot variety since a lot of hockey seems to be zone-play, but that leaves a lot of weakness in puck protection and retrieval. - stashu
Yeah, I played up through high school as i'm sure a lot of people here did. I, like you, am also right handed but I play hockey shooting left. I would have preferred playing RW and having that sweet inside shooting angle, but my coaches had me on the LW mostly because of the reasons that I and some of the other fellas here have already mentioned. I personally don't think it makes that much of a difference swapping players on the wings, I think it's easy to adapt. It would be moving from wing to center that would be most difficult do to the added responsibilities. |

Just something dumb that they would do. Roy and Sakic keep on talking about matching up with the Kings, Blues, Sharks in being a big fast team.
I could see them moving a "smaller" Barrie for a bigger dman like Bogo or Trouba - DDM-Coga
I think the Jets would be stupid to move Trouba. He really played well at the end of the year. |

Obviously my hockey playing experience is lacking...not like there's much formality in gym class (and that's going back over 25 years to middle school - Kenmore Middle, 2nd floor is where we would play hockey, not the big gym). The rest of my hockey playing was even younger since I lived in "the proj" up until 6th grade and we played on the street all the time.
I've been wanting to ask for a long time, glad no asshats like Gizmo (not gerbe) came in to ridicule me. |

They seem destined to be a one and done team for the next 5 or 6 years...unless they make a big move in one direction or the other they don't seem to have enough young or high-end talent to get them out of the first round |

no browns are just dumb, need a QB (RG3 is not a solution) so trade down to probably draft a RB.
That team has no clear direction, cant plan more than 4 months at a time |

It's like the different stages of grief, once you get to acceptance that the Bills are just going to suck, it doesn't hurt anymore.

I disagree, i think this is a great trade for the Browns and was the right move. There isn't a clear cut franchise QB in this draft and no one even knows who is going #1. To move down 6 spots and get that haul back is very good. Getting Phillys 1st next year is huge, they could be very bad this year. Tennessee and Cleveland both made out big in their trades. |

That Bills rumor was too good to be true. Oh shucks, trading a middling QB and some picks for the chance to get the "best" QB (only taking in what others have said, that the rumor is the #1 pick would be the guy many feel is 2nd best)...sign me up!
If it missed, the price wouldn't have been too much IMO, because it's not like Taylor is taking the Bills to the promise land |

I dont think its a bad trade haul, they cleaned up, but its the Browns, they cant draft their way out of a wet paper bag.
Any other team I would be thinking they killed it, but its still the Browns, they will mess this up.
I actually like the idea for the Rams in a business sense, them drafting UCLA Goff is going to help them sell a lot of tickets since its a local guy set up as the "franchise QB. Help get the hype and tapping into the local fan base by drafting him which makese sense, but pure football I think it was a dumb trade

Do NFL teams really need much help selling tickets though? Especially in LA? |

Not going to weigh in on fairness of that (cuz I don't know), but I think they need to trade him. They're going to lose him for nothing anyways. |

As much as I prefer the SEC in college football, I'm not sure any QBs from there are ever tops on my list for wants.
Not saying no SEC QBs can be good (no idea in regards to current NFLers from there), but that league isn't usually somewhere I'd think a franchise guy comes from. |

IMO Wentz goes #1... I also believe VERY strongly that Paxton Lynch will be the best QB out of this draft. I think he will be the Rodgers type.
