Parayko needs to get as much love as ghost for Calder. He doesn't have the point totals but who cares he is fantastic and so solid defensively |

that was right on cue! overtime is gonna be sweet.
i'm not looking past the rangers. at all. had them on the ropes before. won't be done until its done. but yeah, pens caps would be ridiculous hockey. definitely a shame its not for the ECF |

Rangers are a limp noodle and their run has expired. They are going into a dark place. Don't know how many times this was expressed to ranger trolls who ventured in here. Seemed like they never wanted to admit it but it's right in front of their face now. |

you know what, its hard for me to point fingers because the pens looked like they were staring down the barrel of that same gun.
the growth of a lot of young guys not meant to really amount to much has seemingly become the difference between this team and past ones relying on guys like tanner glass and the corpse of craig adams.
it'll be hard to say their window is totally shut as long as hank is hank. but yeah, they do have a lot of guys getting older. they have a decision to make on yandle. he's another one. a good player, but not exactly elite. and theyre stuck either paying him likely a large amount or letting him walk after moving a good bit for him. |

You could probably start an expansion team with all the Rangers have given up for Nash, MSL, Yandel & Staal the last couple of years. I love it. |

it's just so hard to win that way anymore. again, wont get on the high horse because the pens tried it for how long? and holmgren certainly wasnt shy about spending mr. sniders money on the latest toy.
other than lunqvist, the rangers best player has been that rookie defenseman skeij.
kreider may be one of my most hated players in the league, but hes pretty decent and young. i'm a big fan in mcdonagh. they have a lot of guys in their late 20s who are pretty good. so they arent going to go totally belly up within the next 2 years. but all those assets, duclair, the picks, going out. definitely will take a toll at some point. but i imagine its like quicksand. you know that your time is limited, so you keep pushing more futures into the table for the now. at some point you just need to stop being like a degenerate gambler trying to dig yourself out throwing good money after bad.
which is what i think hextall has been excellent at the last year and a half or so.

I've been saying the same thing. The window is closing and they've spend a lot of picks and prospects going for it to no avail. |

Are there any other choices? - funmaster18

I agree and I think it is possible, but it has to be timed so well and done right with some luck involved. They really needed to recognize players that shouldnt have been available like Duclair. And you have to have some cap on the amount you can sign people. Guys like Boyle and previously Richards, just couldnt match what their salary was.
It seemed like the Pens problem is that they could never find the young depth to fill out the roster through the draft (which has clearly happened now). It almost feels like the Rangers problem is completely different. Their veterans are the problem and they arent playing well enough.

I know a lot of pens fans would disagree, but they need to get rid of Fleury. He's hurt a lot and also you are just waiting for him to implode at the worst times. I'm not sure they could trade him for much, but they'd be wise to move on if they can.

I think some realize this. I remember when the expansion rules/circumstances were revealed past month or so and on Pens discussion thread it was a commonly shared opinion they wouldn't protect Fleury over Murray. |

To me that's a no brainer and I wouldn't even discuss it. The expansion teams prob wouldn't take him IMO. |

They dont need to, but Murray makes him more expendable than several of the other big contracts on the team |
