On one of the worst teams in the league over the past decade? Yes it was tough on him.
He was our #1 the last 2x we were a playoff team.
Ristolainen IMO will be better no doubt, but Myers didn't have the luxury of being 21 on an up and coming team, he was 21 on a team plummeting into a rebuild - sbroads24
Fair. That being said his defense left a bit to be desired for a true number 1. I liked Myers and honestly if we had him now we'd look pretty good. I'm still okay with the trade, too.
yup...good enough to attract a free agent like stamkos while also being good enough to move forward briskly should he not come to buffalo...I could live with them adding STL forward David Backes and DET d-man Kyle Quincey, probably for a combined $10+M/yr., instead of dishing out $10M-per for stamkos - Michael Pachla
YES Michael!!!!! Not so much Backes, I was thinking of more of a sniper, but I like the non-Stamkos thinking. I understand the whole it doesn't cost us anything but money, but players need to be moved, we have a wealth of draft picks, get it done that route. I just don't think that Stamkos is worth the cap hell that he'll put us in in a couple of years.

I'd rather fit stamkos in for 10 per for 7 years then a 31 year old for 5 years at 6 per

Will Risto become fearless and feared? This one is on him. Agreed!
How well can he manage his time on ice to avert late-season slumps? I don't think this is his concern to address. This is a question for the guys in ties behind the bench. But it's real - he looked like less of a player as February rolled into March.
I think conditioning in the offseason will have a big affect on how he progresses into the role of a #1. As you put it and I believe it as well. This is on him. He has to keep hungry and want to be the best he can be.
I also think having a #1/2 D-Man here paired with him would help him tremendously as well.
We can only hope that player falls from heaven as GM TM put it, and compliments Risto.
I will worry about the bottom half of the roster in 3 years - homiedclown
or...in three years you can have most of this roster in place, thinking deep playoff run, with holes filled, plus three years of them all playing under the same system
