Not only Matthew Coller. The media, as in all of them.
And I said it wasn't directed at you to be nice, but you can include yourself. I mean, this coming from the person that doesn't want a guy that usually scores more goals than Kane generates points. Explain that one - sbroads24
Youre going off the rails.
My concern with Stamkos is whether he will ever justify $77M for 7 years.
And the explanation is like 4th grade level: simple math says Kane's 35 pts at $5.25M is worth more than Stamkos' 67 pts at $11M. |

Tell me why I'm wrong.
Stamkos makes his money as a scorer. The points are the points.
Kane's is a power forward, who scores.
Why is Stamkos worth the commitment you want to make to him but Kane is overrated at less than half the money.
The floor is yours professor.
Also, your answer regarding Stamkos should not include "if" "down year" "injury" or "per 82 games"

What a coincidence. My favorite numbers are: 77, 7, 4, 35, 5.25, 67, and 11. You hit them all, and in order. |

Your assertion that he may not be worth it, may or may not be correct, but that Math isn't how you get there. A player's relative value is not salary/points.

As being another old fart on this thread. My concern:
Stamkos will make or break us. But the idea of if that type of player comes around , you try your damndest to get him. When was the las time the Sabres were in talks to get such a high profile player?
Never is my answer.
Get him and take the risk. Without him we are were we are. and wondering what ifs. |

Of course it isn't, but it's a good starting point to refute the implication that liking Kane and being concerned about Stamkos is indefensible. |

While I don't think Kane had a great year, he did seem to hit his stride with Eichel and Reinhart when ROR got hurt. He ditched the frustrating, low-percentage wrist shots from the circles and started using his teammates. If we get that Evander Kane next year I'll be happy. 30 goals would be great, but if he's crashing the other team's defense on the forecheck he will create a lot for the other scorers. |

I saw 2 games in person while a young lad. One was the "75 playoffs vs. Montreal in the "semis. I was 6. Still have the tiny souvenir stick my Dad got me, later signed by 11 and 20.
The other was early Tony Mnkegney/Gare/Perrault prolly late "70s. |

At the beginning of the season, if there was one single person that thought that Evander Kane would score 35 points this year, which didn't include him missing half the season, I'd he shocked.
My issue isn't with Kane, I came around on him, and expect him to be better/produce more going forward. However what the expectations were going into the year aren't really close to what actually happened.
Most people thought we would get 25-30 goals, 50+ points, and a future winger for Jack Eichel. Anyone denying that was the expectations are just flat out lying or backtracking.
So this is and has been my question, if that's what was expected, how is him falling so short of that having a good season?
Sure, he's a good player, and he's not overpaid. I just don't feel the need to sugarcoat what he did by mentioning pace, or how many goal posts he hit. He had an underwhelming year, with a personal slip up, but ended playing his best hockey. Nothing more |

All that matters is that he starts the season like he ended it, at this point.

Hmm, either my post was deleted, or I never hit submit. Either way, yeah, no (frank)ing way is Kiko a HOFer, and I like the guy. I wasn't a huge fan of the trade when it happened, then Kiko got hurt, again, and while McCoy was hurt the entire year, he was pretty damn good when he played. - Wetbandit1
