Truthfully, I have no problem overpaying Erikkson. We could use some veteran scoring with the Sedins to help get us back to the playoffs. We have cap space, why not use it? - CanuckDon
Why would he sign in Vancouver? They just finished the year with the least amount of wins in the league, it's pretty well known around the league they plan to get younger yet again.
Eriksson's never won a Cup, I don't see interest on his part, unless he's a typical Swede and wining really isn't his first priority?
Peter Forsberg, Ulf Samuelsson and Henrik Zetterberg are the three in my history that played with a North American edge to their game with an extremely high compete level. |

I didn't say he would want to sign here I'm just saying I wouldn't object. Perhaps he wants to join the Swedish country club? Would you prefer they don't use the cap space? I want to make the playoffs, enough losing. As long as the term is short in ok w adding a few vets. |

I think they should use some of the cap space, but use it wisely! Eriksson is good offensively, a good team will offer him more term and more dollars than the Canucks should pay IMO. |

I agree...I don't want to offer the term he will likely get (don't care about $ amount). If we are offering term the player needs to be in that 24-27 age gap. |

Yup....the issue is, rarely are UFA's in that age range. They're 30 or older, usually, and wanting to win or the lesser tier guys are looking for a payday. |

Those guys would make the team harder to play against but won't carry them to the playoffs.
Canucks top six is not good, their defence is terrible and they defend really poorly. This is a work in progress. |

They need to fix all three things. D , scoring , and toughness . The did make three additions to D in the last few weeks. |

I am more concerned about a second line LW and 4 th line LW than a first line RW.
I think with Boeser or this years pick first line is short term vacancy. I don't even mind Hansen two more years. - VANTEL

I'm probably the only one on here that thinks their D isn't that bad. Addition by subtraction losing Weber and Bart. tree and Hutton with more experience. Larsson may bring some offense. Just having Edler healthy will make a huge difference. Scoring and toughness are my biggest concerns. Our team is way too small |

Have you ever been to Buffalo.
A rich young man has as much chance of picking Buffalo as city of choice as a lung cancer patient picking Bejing - VANTEL
You could say the same for any Canadian city outside of Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Yet people go places to win. Detroit is an even bigger poophole and players flocked there for years. |

Truthfully I think Benning comes off as a knucklehead but he's probably the best GM the Canucks have had in a long while. I say that because I believe you build teams primarily thru the draft, this appears to be his bread and butter.
He's gonna have his misses, they all do, but I'm excited for this draft to see what transpires. - LeftCoaster
