when do we expect to hear about injuries, etc. When is locker clean out day?

Positives:

1.) We have our goalie. Mason is our #1. Neuvirth played fantastic this year and could very well be a #1 elsewhere. But Mason has shown us on a yearly basis that he can handle the workload. If the Flyers think they can compete in 16-17, then I say hold onto Neuvirth and go for it.

2.) The defense was a weak point in the season but definitely did their part (and then some) come playoff time. I actually get bummed thinking of Del Zotto's return and Provorov's potential addition, because it means one of Manning or Schultz or both (if Streit stays) will go elsewhere. They gained a lot of respect from me after this series.

3.) The 4th line played great. Even if line(s) 1+2+3 played above average hockey this series, it wouldn't take away the 4th line's contribution. They may have been our "best line" due to the poor play of the other line's, but they brought such a high level of energy, responsibility, and overall good hockey.

4.) Schenn played some of his best hockey. He'll get paid, no doubt. But if this is what to expect from him year in and year out? Then pay the man.

Well, when he says, "size and toughness," what comes to mind? Big players who fight is what comes to my mind. Sorry for interpreting something a way.

Also, Comon, what would this place be without a certain poster crying about needing to add size every (frank)ing day?

- jmatchett383

And you automatically jumped to John Scott. Instead of say.... Lucic.

Now I know you know more about hockey than that. So there had to have been another reason.

So what's the word on Giroux? Was he hurt? Or was it that being an undersized skilled centerman in the NHL after all these years taken a toll? Voracek came back too fast from the dreaded high-ankle sprain? Were groin's pulled? Speed and confidence were sorely lacking from those 2.

People will point to a couple of soft goals early in the season, but in the rangers series two years ago he kept us alive. Neuvirth looks great too, though. Difficult situation. It would be great to keep them both until one of the prospects is ready to come up, but that will be really difficult to do.

Canada considering Giroux, Schenn, Simmonds for Worlds. Will wait until 1st rnd is complete. Likely add 2 F, 2 D and another goalie.

- PLindbergh31

If Giroux plays in worlds I'm gonna be pissed. He better be hurting from something

They will have to make a decision. Next year both are on last year. Mason is probably going to be looking at a big deal around 6mil.

I hate paying a goalie that much because they can go horsepoop in no time and become almost impossible to move.

I feel goalies are like relief pitchers and closer's in baseball.

we all agree they lost because Crims missed the game, right? So much for being the only one who believed, missing the most important game of the year. I don't care if a meteor struck him while sitting on his couch 5 minutes before puck drop.

Guys..SERIOUSLY...you need top REALLY address the top end talent of this team...

Eichel is ALREADY better than ANYONE on your team....

Reinhart is better than any prospect you have

And Risto is better than any defenseman you have...

Id be careful throwing rocks for a team that just got SMOKED.

but hey...Gothesbiere is the next Paul Coffey...its not like hes a flash in the pan like Mike Green or anything. Build around him..an Offensive defenseman. It works well, just ask Ottawa and Phoenix

As much as I want to say it's an easy decision and they will go with Mason, I'm just not too sure. I don't know how Hextall and Hakstol view them both. Hakstol seemed very ready to ride Neuvirth down the stretch until he got hurt.

Half of the series was played like we were on the PK. Schultz and the 4th line shined Bc of it. We need to start influxing the team with players that are going to do a better job with possession and actually generating legit scoring chances

I agree.

I don't think it is as easy as people seem to make it. And I am not sure if I just make Mason de facto number 1 next season.

Okay. Aside from Morin, who did you have in mind?
- jmatchett383

Wouldn't be opposed to a Lucic type if that could work without breaking the bank.
If I had to choose between Lucic and Stamkos it's a no brainer.
Im not saying go after goons I just dont like the idea of Simmonds being the one that drops the gloves more then anyone on this team. I dont like the idea of Schenn being the big hitter. Both of those players need to be producing for this team to succeed.

True.....

Ill leave you folks alone for the off season...the only thing I wanted to really get into here was the fact that NOONE is holding Giroux's feet to the fire for ONE point amazes me.....I thought you were better fans than that...

If my captain and #1 center did that..hed have a bulleye on his face...

He TRULY learned NOTHING from Briere about fighting through it.

Good Luck on your trade pursuit of Mc David

What's most important is you guys have a top notch coach. Look at pittsburgh whose been in disarray

Best case scenario is both goalies realize the situation they have brought the flyers management and both work their tails off in the offseason individually to get the #1 goalie spot. And to further that case, hopefully both come back similar to their play, if not better, and then flip one at the deadline ?

I think Lucic could take some of that work off of Schenn and Simmer's shoulders. And I don't necessarily mean running a player or dropping the gloves; I feel Lucic's prescence on the ice would be nice to have Bc players know not to try this or that when he's there. Similar to Gudas's presence in the D zone. After he established his hip checking and ability to knock people down, more players hesitated to go in his direction. But I'm not sure how on board Haks would be with Lucic's penalties and how he can lose his temper pretty easily and do dumb stuff

Not sure why but I worry that this contract is going to be a pain. I would be ecstatic if they can get him something comparable to Couturier's deal.

Yes, because when the same guy says every single day, "We need more size," it's (frank)ing annoying. Yes, would I like more size? Obviously. Would I rather have a guy like Johnny Gaudreau than a guy like Lucic/Boyle? Yes.

It's what I said earlier: size for the sake of size doesn't get you anywhere, but skill will. Just look at the Penguins: they're (right now) the best team in the NHL, and they're doing it with guys like Rust, Sheary, Letang, and Hagelin leading the way. Give me a 5'10 guy who can score 35 goals over a 6'4 guy who can score 10-15.

I know this will be unpopular but do you think we have seen the best of Simmonds? One thing I took away from this series is I thought Simmonds was very one dimensional. I know he can score but other then that I didn't think he brought much else. ANd Yes I know the top line as a whole was bad.

I like Simmonds. But I also wonder what more he has to bring. He is a streaky scorer.
