I had an odd half remembered dream that a combination of Marchand, Pasta and Krug. Maybe all three, will be traded this offseason.
Maybe for a couple true top pairing defenseman.........
Not sure how I feel about it, as it's not something I would do, but it probably would help make us contenders next season instead of having to wait at least two-three.
We also seem to have more offensive help, both on D and up front ((especially from the college ranks(even more so if we were to win the Vesey lottery)).
They need to get crazy, if Seguin and Hamilton were traded then I think Marchand and Pasta are possible. In fact I think the later are and were lesser untradables than the first two.
Maybe we trade Marchand and Krug for a Weber type (big money stay at home defenseman with term and may be aging)
And then flip Pasta and Spoons (or) a first for a Dumba/Trouba/Brodine............?
That would leave the door open to throw crap tons of money at Stamkos as a Marchand replacement.........I know he wants to play center, but we could probably convince him to play wings with Bergy!
Outside of the box thoughts.............. |

Apparently only the worst kind of Bruins trades... that's more of a nightmare than a dream.
Marchand AND Krug for an aging out #1 d-man... Pastrnak AND Spooner for a questionable top pairing/more likely 2nd pairing d-man. Sounds like a great way to never score a goal ever again... and secure ourselves a top lottery pick for the next 5 seasons!

Disclaimer: Sarcasm
Sounds like the kind of deals that will make the bruins a 'heavier team' and they will say these trades give them 'real value' . It sounds like Neely and Sweeney type of deals to me. |

Hence the, "I wouldn't do it," in one of the first paragraphs.
But, it's the kind of crazy nonsense that the Bs have done for the last three years.
Think about what we as fans would NOT do, and that's what the Bs management group WILL do.
I bet one of Marchand or Pasta gets traded this offseason. |

It's not a dream man, it's the Bruins prophecy.
I don't see Marchand getting traded, and I definitely don't see Pastrnak being traded... I think they've learned their lesson with trading away young talented players.
I could see Krecji getting moved though.
I am just praying for Chara to retire... and I don't even believe in Jebus. |

yeah i don't see the one player who was engaged in every game, 3 goals shy of a 40 goal season getting shipped out. makes no sense. krejci, maybe. but that was a sneaky quiet 63 points he put up. i'd like to see him fully healthy.
we'll see with Chara but i see a seidenberg buyout. and trading some of these young assets we have. or one of the firsts. i honestly do think they'll shop Rask around to see what they could get for him. but that does leave a huge hole in net. |

Chara, Krejci, Seidenberg, and Rask all have NTC as we all know, obviously. So they are not easy guys to trade.
Krejci is having hip surgery and teams may be hesitant to trade big assists for him.
Chara retiring may be a possibility but seems more like wishful thinking than much else.
Rask, not sure he gets us as much as people think.
Marchand will be getting a $7.5 per for 6 years contract, will the Bs want to sign him to that?
All I'm saying is he has the highest value on the team AFTER Bergy............wouldn't surprise me if these idiots traded Bergy either to be honest.
EDIT: As Ty just wrote in this article, the Bs always seem to make ODD moves and have destroyed the team over the last 3-4 years in the process. |

If I had to guess.. I bet Marchand signs for 6.875.. same as Bergeron. Either way... you can't just trade away EVERY player that's about to get paid.

Its a bold strategy that Boston has utilized a lot in the recent past.
But lets see if it works out for them this time. |

So what is the honest return for marchand at this point? How about Pasta, he will be next. Defining moment next year, last year of the ELC. Will he even get offered a bridge? I heard Detroit was offering a nice shiny bottom six forward. Might be too tempting to pass on.
(frank)ing management clowns. |

I don't even want to think about it to be honest. He would be close to an untouchable to me this offseason.
So if history repeats here in Boston that would mean that he along with Pasta, Vatrano and Spooner are all likely getting shopped around for a couple top pair D men. (Value is likely in that order too.)
I don't see how Marchand signs for under $7 mil per. The $6.75 type deal Bergy took was three years ago now and Marchand could easily get $7.5 on the open market.
If Pasta and Spooner both put up 20 goals and around 65 points they will be looking for $6 per type deals that most young RFA type comparables have received.
Krug, if we keep him will be around $5 a year or more.
It's nuts that we could be back in CAP JAIL in a couple season if the right moves are not made.
Marchand $7 Krug $5 Pasta $5.5 Spooner $5.5.............that's after next season.
The old guys have NTC and we don't have a single top pair defenseman. I really don't know what they do at this point.
I bet they will panic and try to make the playoffs at all costs and that scares the hell out of me. |

Great idea!
Drink a bunch to get really hammered and start brainstorming crazy trade ideas.................
That's probably what they have been doing for the last few offseason! |

Oh, and dont forget to get laid. That part is important too. So here is the gameplan, bruins management style.
1) drink a lot of really expensive booze
2) contemplate your team's future NHL16 style, and trade away your future on a whim
3) drink more expensive booze with cheap beer chasers to stick it to the little man
4) Hookers, cocaine and possibly some hirings and firings of assistant coaches followed by some really ill-advised drafting that takes the approach "(frank) central scouting, im taking this guy"
5) finish your really expensive bottle of booze while on the phone with another GM trading your best player
6) Hire more people that kiss your ass and say yes to every idea you have
7) buy a lot more expensive booze, and hold a press conference giving BS reasons why the season didnt go the way you planned, not pinning the fault on your own incompetence
8) Rinse and repeat in whatever order you want, because really, it doesnt matter when you are rich as (frank) and have zero business sense. |
