I agree with you. Super-impressed.
micah disagrees. He thinks Griess is a bum.
Different perspectives I guess. - bloatedmosquito
He was outstanding in that series. I've never been a fan going back a few years but obviously, he was a difference maker against the Panthers. I still think he's going to get lit up against the Lightning. |

That's not it. Yesterday you preached patience and now you're saying we should overpay to get Loui E short term because "we need top 6 scoring badly".
To me it's like the Miller signing. Expensive stop gap. That's it. - bloatedmosquito
From last blog..... yes I'm way (frank)ing behind, lol
If you need a big truck get a ram or a Chevy.
I've had both,
If it's an automatic go Chevy
Manual go dodge.
I've got a Dodge 4500 crew cab. Great truck.
If I didn't need such alarge truck for work and such I'd wait for the canyon to come out with a diesel next year

They finished with 182 goals. The Ducks were one of the lowest scoring teams to make the playoffs in the WC and they had 215. I figure the Canucks will need at least 220 goals to make the playoffs next season, and probably more like 230-240 to make up for their shoddy defence.
They scored 236 in 2014/5.
Differences (aprox.)
Vrbata -20
Burrows -10
Bonino/Sutter -10
So if you replace Vrbata with Eriksson, Burrows with a 20 goal scorer (McGinn/Brouwer/Ladd), and Sutter stays healthy enough to get 15-20, that goes a long way to getting them back on track.
Natural progression from Horvat, Baertschi, Etem, Hutton, and Virtanen could make up some of the remaining difference and counteract anticipated reduced production from the Sedins.
Solving the missing piece of the D puzzle by getting a legit top 4 RH shooter would put them in a pretty solid position. However unless they manage to pull off an Erhoff-type deal, it's likely going to cost them at least one of their younger roster players to do this. - YeOldTimer
So you replace burrows with lucic, vrabata with Erikson.
Hope Sutter status healthy.
And we get 220g?
In the playoffs?
I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen, especially if we are 1ov |

Uhh, no to the Lucic. Yes to replacing Vrbata with Ericksson for top six scoring, Yes to giving Burrows' roster spot to a UFA with size and a bit of grit who will get them 20 goals.
Oh and once again, no to Lucic. |

A Dman that I am on the fence with is Yandle. He is 29 and puts up 50 points a year. I think he would help Tanevs game a whole lot. He would be around 6 per year. I think if you could get him for four years with no NTC for the final two years so that if he slides then you can move him. A salary something like 8 , 6.5 , 5.5 , 4. I am not sure if that is cap compliant but something like that.

I'm against a Hamhuis return and highly doubt it happens. Except perhaps under the following conditions:
1) 1 Year contract
2) Salary of no more than $1 - $1.5
3) No restrictions on player movement
If he'll go for that then sure, waive Biega and sign Dan up now so Benning can get to work on finding someone better.
They need a legit top 4 RHD with offensive upside and a good shot. Ideally someone who's 24 - 26 years old.
Forget Hamonic. He's made it publicly known he wants to play in Manitoba. You'd just be acquiring Garth Snow's biggest dilemma.

Scoring 220 goals is pretty meaningless, although more entertaining, unless they defend better and ALLOW less goals against. The Canucks let in 243 goals last year, bottom five in the league.
As an example, Ottawa scored way more with 236 goals but they also allowed 247, still missed the playoffs by a wide margin.
Desjardins will have to have the players defend better if the even hope to have a sniff at a wildcard spot. All the top teams were around the 200 GA mark, and scored around the 230 to 240 mark. |
