Not here to troll. It's really been amazing what the Rangers have been able to do the last few years and I've hated watching them (which means they are doing something right). They really seemed to get it, bringing up their kids, having drafted well, and having cap space to make a shrewd outside addition. But the minute MSL became available they scrapped that idea. May be time to trade someone of huge value to recoup the draft picks they inexplicably blew.

couldn't agree more. St Louis was the beginning of the end of this run.

The reality is that Nash won't be an easy sell in any given situation:

Nash isn't an easy sell for a team hoping to climb out of the basement because of his age, cap hit, concussion history, and this year's performance.

Nash isn't an easy sell to a contender because of his cap hit, recent performance, and being invisible in the playoffs.

He isn't a bad player by any stretch but he is a terrible fit for the NYR. He doesn't show up every day, eats up too much cap space, and is not going to help 1 bit come playoff time.

The free cap space is the return in the trade. Everything else is a bonus.

And to think that someone thought he would make a good Rangers coach.

Part of the problom is it does limit the return for him severely. A) you only have x amount teams that could trade for him B) he makes oodles of money and C) he's not the player he was.
- Slimtj100

IDK, Martin St.Louis listed ONE team on his trade list and Tampa made a killing on that. I totally get the logic but you never know. You guys traded Gomez and made a killing. Vancouver moved Luongo on a contract paying him til he's 43. Toronto trade David Clarkson's horrific contract and Columbus traded Nathan Horton who's never playing hockey again. (Amazing how the league didn't think that circumvented the cap....)

Trading Nash is no problem it's only a matter of what you get back and how much salary you might have to retain.

You've been living on every pens board. You've already seen it. You're grabbing at straws to make me look like I'm making it up. But whatever, I just wanted to use the logic that was used on me.
- Zac_O

I believe it's "Grasping at Straws" not Grabbing

The etymology of this phrase comes originally from Thomas More in his work Dialogue of Comfort Against Tribulation (1534). The idiom refers to a drowning man grasping for anything, even a straw, to save his life. In today’s world it has come to mean to act or make a decision, usually in desperation, without enough information or resources.

Variations include: clutching at straws, grasp at straws, clutch at straws

No Grabbing though.

very similar to the situation we were in with Scott Gomez, the cap space created with that deal was utilized marvelously, signing Gaborik and then ultimately trading him for Brassard, in addition to the obvious of acquiring McDonagh

I wasn't hoping for an epic response. I was looking for the answer to the question. Will the king also be considered a coach killer for having to be on his 4th NHL coach? Just because they don't actually answer it isn't my fault. Where else should I discuss this? On a different team boards?
