I'd rather give the minutes to the kids and let Matthews develop into the true number 1 centre, in the next 3 years. What are you going to say to Stamkos when Matthews becomes the real number 1 centre in the near future? Sorry, but you're now number 2 and have to play the wing? Then you have another $10 million dollar pouter on the team. Better to take that money and invest in a better defense going forward. I'm hoping that they find a way to move up into the top 10 for another good player, preferably a defenseman.

Hopefully this puts the Stamkos issue away. We don't need to tie up big money in a diminishing asset. Stamkos still has a few good years left, but at $10 million a copy, on the cap, I think the Leafs can now pass.
