What are you going to say to Stamkos when Matthews becomes the real number 1 centre in the near future? Sorry, but you're now number 2 and have to play the wing? Then you have another $10 million dollar pouter on the team. Better to take that money and invest in a better defense going forward. Would JVR + Pitt 1st + TOR 2nd 2017 do it? (I'm assuming "no", but not sure what else would need to be added). Would WPG or CBJ even consider something like that?
