trades scare me as a leaf fan since we've been on the wrong end of them so many times. but, I still think this team has a few years to go before they are truly competitive (2-3 maybe) and would like to see how the development of the core goes before jumping on the filling pieces

My point was, Matthews signing doesn't auto lock him into that LW slot. So I don't think it affects his decision as much as it may seem

That being said, It's definitely between Boston and TML

Especially if said kids end up out-performing Stamkos. With the Kadri and Reilly signings the Leafs have done a good job setting a good precedent that high $$ contracts will need to be earned. I don't think it's a good idea to (frank) that internal cap management up by signing Stammer to a record breaking contract.

Well the Leafs are short on quality wingers, so if he's that good it shouldn't be a problem.
