most thought Zaitsev was a lock, Vesey 50/50 Stamkos 3/1 or 4/1 and Matthews the most unlikely.


Assuming Zaitsev is definitely coming here, Matthews + 1 of Stamkos/Vesey + Pick 25 + Pick 31 is gonna make this a very good offseaon

Thank You! Islanders are getting new owners this July so they might want to make a splash. JT and Stamkos are friends, but I would be shocked if they got him. That would be huge money locked up for two players.

Cannot wait until Okposo is gone. I think they will try to move Halak as well. I want Bailey gone as well. Have to think the Islanders will at least try with Stamkos. Winning a round should help in signings FA's. Still a very long shot for Stamkos though.

There really shouldn't be...as I just said, pretty much every real fan of the sport knows now that winning the lottery ain't as easy as it used to be

No need to be a hater when there is as much risk as there is in the lottery process; congrats to the Leafs for beating some odds

I have zero problem with your franchise getting the top pick

I wanted the draft lottery changed so losing wasn't automatically equated to getting the top pick, and it's been adjusted enough to where now teams know that you run the real risk of dropping down and picking fourth, like Edmonton is

To me, that, plus the 80 percent chance you lose the first lottery, makes it much better than it was and alleviates any concerns I have with tanking

Did Toronto strip it down? Sure. They knew they were gonna be bad. But sometimes you're going to be bad -- somebody's gotta finish last

What you can't have was Buffalo and Arizona trying their damnedest to lose as many games as possible last season, and Buffalo the year before that, and being rewarded for it with little risk of lottery pain

leafs didnt do anything like what barfalo and arizona did.

Dubnyk started playing real well for zona, so they dumped him for a 3rd. now he is an all star. Mike smith was putrid, and continued to be hot garbage, which enabled them to grab Strome. Barfalo moved their top 2 goalies and decided to pick up lindback with a record of 2-8-0,3.71GAA/.871SV% . They were rewarded pretty handsomely with Eichel

buffalo fans accusing leafs of tanking = hypocrite. lets enjoy the win leafs fans, we have out franchise center!

honestly with matthews coming here i feel the odds of signing stamkos is a lot higher. this is a team that could be borderline playoff ready as early as next year if stamkos comes.
