Yeah idk about that.. Sid is still bery good.. and 15 years is a long time. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Its a long time. And a player probably cant dominate in this league for that long anymore, but Mcdavid is still on a different level than these guys. Marner seems like he might be close to him skill wise, maybe not smartswise though. |

You're complicating things.
He said roster.
Marner wasn't on the roster.
Either was Nylander technically.
So I'll trade rosters but we keep our prospect pools. Lol - ILoveLamp
Huh?
A) I proposed it.
B) Anyone in either system is fair game. |

Andersen or Murray. (frank) the others !! - MountAlbert
forget about andersen. he's statistically equal to reimer who is a UFA.
When expansion comes, teams will be forced to move goalies.
PIT should keep Murray means FLeury is available.
TB must decide between Bishop and Vasilevsky
Even if we somehow get a 10th-15th best goalie like a Halak or a Crawford type guy we'll be fine.
BTW this doesn't have to happen next year...Leafs are going to be fun to watch but very inconsistent next year. We'll have anywhere from 5 to 9 rookies up front. They will make mistakes and they will have bad nights. |

At this point McDavid is the future of the NHL.
But another young player can come along like McDavid is doing to Crosby to take the throne.. also injuries etc... 15 years is just a really long time. |

Itll take him another season or two to hit his full prime but I think he is this generations Crosby. And every generation is more talented than the one that came before it. 3rd liners have Gretzky talent nowadays(maybe not vision) but definitely talent.
And yes Crosby is a beast! |

check out this awesome blog I wrote about the challenge Marner faces to make the Leafs lineup. For some reason HB never posted it on their page. It speaks to depth or prospects and goals of the organization. Worth a read. |

Wow. Just jumped on here and noticed that Garth has comments locked up on his blog. His daily disjointed ramblings are going to be EXTREMELY entertaining over the next little while. Actually, this site is going to be super funny pretty much up until the draft!! Bring it on... |

Leafs have faaarrrrrrr more depth in guys like Brown, Sosh, Hyman, Carrick, etc...
It kinda seems like a no-brainer to me.. And i honestly believe Matthews is going to suprise a lot of fans next year by how good he actually is.. hes better than Eichel for sure. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Well, the consensus is that if he was drafted last year, he would've gone 3rd behind Eichel.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 8h8 hours ago
Most scouts I talk to say Eichel and Matthews are quite comparable. Had Matthews been 2015 eligible, he'd likely have been consensus No. 3. |

Bob's always been anti-Leafs with his smug demeanor.
Anyways 3rd is good for me. As Shanny said, a team wins a cup not an individual. This is just another piece of the puzzle |

Strength/conditioning/speed? Yes. Talent/skill? No. - gravyface
Absolutely. Back in the day if you could give and receive a saucer pass it was impressive. If you had a strong slapshot it was impressive. Nowadays these are standard talents - you can't even get out of midget without these skills. Batting pucks out of the air, defense flipping pucks up and out of their zone like expert curlers just short of icing.
All the little things one generation learns and masters from the previous generation. Only elite vision and hockey sense can't be mastered through learning....it can be taught, but there is an internal ability that some have a level above. In this regard, Gretzky was top notch. |

I'd say it would have been a toss-up but Eichel does have great passing and puck possession abilities. We will have to wait and see how Matthews is going to be. |
