Yeah, that's worse. Nobody's saying Matthews is the next Crosby or that kind of thing. I was pissed they went to this format the year the Leafs actually finished dead last, but on the other hand at least it is not in a year with 'generational' expectations. And in a year with a solid top 4.

What if they trade down, and that 1st rounder picks at 25ish, and that pick ends up being the best pick of the draft. Of course only knowing this via hindsight.

This would be the best scenario. Leafs lose this draft lottery and pick fourth. The fourth pick is a solid fourth overall pick. But it's the 25 pick that is the Perry/Getzlaf of the draft. Giroux, whatever. That would be even better than getting Matthews. Because then all the trolls tonight can eat a Richard, but they won't even know it until years later dons on them the Richard has been in their mouth the whole time.
