So happy we won the lottery! Great day to be a leafs fan. I love all the chirping from bitter trolls. Do you think Arizona will make a solid offer for the pick and do yo think uncle Lou would consider trading the pick? - elpidio1975
Shanahan mentioned a few things that point to him being open to the idea. He stressed that this is a team game and it takes more than one player in this day and age to win. He mentioned that this pick is good for the team and that the Leafs know who they want to draft.
If we remember the Lindros deal, we see that a team can look too much to one player and lose sight of the overall goal. That trade created the juggernaut Av's team for years to come.
I think the Leafs would like the younger Nylander. I also think they would have been happy picking 4th for Tkachuk. If Arizona were to offer their 7th pick overall which the Leafs would most likely be able to pick one of these guys, and then offer Domi and either Strome or Dvorak to facilitate the deal, the Leafs may consider as this would fill out their roster for the future with prospects that Hunter knows and appreciates. It would also give the team a head start in gelling, as the entire top 6 would know each other's playing styles greatly. The Leafs would probably ask for Jarred Tinordi to get insure a strong defensive prospect.
Arizona is not giving up OEL for anything. They will also not give away Strome, Dvorak, and Domi, but they may give up 2 outta 3. The Leafs would need a defensive prospect to come back as well. This is the most real scenario, and still a long shot.
My personal opinion is this would be a trade to make.

Can we just relax and enjoy the win? We haven't drafted a legit franchise centre in years and people think the Leafs brass is going to move this pick? No way unless OEL is involved as well as Dvorak and their pick this year, not Tinordi. |

He also doesn't actually have to donate the money. He will raise money via golf tourneys and such. its more of a PR move. - Triple-T
oh no, he donates the ten million. out of his pocket AND he does all the charitable events AND he visits to offer joy to the children.
as far as the tax break he wont get back nearly what you think. something in the range of 17 percent.
the zuckerberg thing is different because zuckerberg created his own charitable organization and donated money to his own charitable organization. what that organization ultimately does with the money will determine if he is legit or a scumbag.
PK is the man. Itd just be funny to see him contribute so,greatly to a city he used to play in. |

OEL is a UFA after just three more seasons. As good as OEL is Matthews is worth more to a team like the Leafs. Nothing but a gross overpayment even gets Toronto interested I'm sure. |
