Are we still in the market for Stamkos? Marner can move to the wing (he played wing alot this year), but Nylander needs the puck as much as Matthews does, so I can't see either playing on the wing.

Kadri's signed long-term and is a better option at 3C. Bozak on the 4th line, move him at the deadline (this year or next)?

Assuming we sign Vesey:

This year Kadri will be on the 1st line and will play against other teams first line. Matthews will probably be ahead of Nylander insantly. Nylander has so much to learn. In a game against Detroit the broadcaster says "THis is one of Nylander's best games of the year." Not a single analyst notice how Kyle Quincey's goal was entirely Nylanders fault.

There's a two-on-two for Detroit. Nylander backchecks hard, looks over his should to see his check(quincey) along the boards near center ice and then turns away thinking 'not a threat'. Quincey crosses over to the other side of the rink and gets a pass just inside the blueline and snipes. Nylander did all the hard work backchecking. Looked directly at his man and just chose not to take him. He did the work, just didn't have the sense to see it through.

Bozak will probably be traded in the summer or at the deadline. Summer is best to open cap space. And btw, Bozak is a great player.

My point was that Matthews is the oldest player in in years draft. He should be gone last year where I would have arguably gone 3rd behind McDavid a Eichel but ahead of Strome. So if last year he was included in the draft. Would you have taken Domi, Tinordi and either Tkachuk or Nylander to allow them to pick the 3rd overall (Matthews) while you took Strome next? BTW we took Marner too!

Stop with the name calling and widen your views. Don't buy into the hype of the number 1. Do what is best for the team.

I would love to keep JVR, but if.....IF they plan on trading him, I would imagine Anaheim would be the ideal partner.

They need a top LW, we need a goalie and a good young D, which they have a surplus of. Seems like a good match.

100%. No rush for goalie. This year will be another year of pain. All these rookies will be making mistakes. I doubt we'll finish last again(please don't get hurt JVR our only 1st line player) but we won't be near the playoffs unless everything goes right and we get all the right bounces. See Calgary from 2 years ago. Lucky playoffs ahead of schedule.

This may seem weird, but if we don't get Stamkos, I see Bozak going into the season as the #1C again. He won't be the most talented center by any means, but he's shown he can handle the pressure of being a #1C. Matthews will likely play opposite of JVR.

Then you have the sheltered second line with Marner and Nylander feasting on easier competition, maybe with Hyman or Greening if you want a vet as the 3rd wheel.

3rd line, same as yours, taking the heavy minutes

And then 4th line with what's left.



Also, depending on the final rules for the expansion draft, I can see the Leafs leaving Marner in junior for another year.
