Right. You usually get injured when you fall off a cliff. Just look at the singer of Rush. Why do you think she looks like a man?

Judging offensive production just by goals never makes sense. Umberger was producing points at almost twice the rate as the players on the Hak line. Similar possession numbers, too.
I'm all for the Umberger buyout to clean up the cap, free up a roster spot, and make sure his NMC is not an issue in the expansion draft. But the idea that Umberger couldn't play bottom six minutes this past season is inaccurate. AT least when he was out there the team wasn't outscored 2:1 like they were when Hakstol's chemistry experiment was on the ice. |

By the way, I was listening to the radio this morning and heard a song that actually made me consider admitting that Led Zepplin could be considered "heavy metal."
Then I found out that Talk About Love was done by Deep Purple. |

Need to be able to skate and not be a liability.
I'm sure #fancynumbers and all, but he looked flat-out awful last year. |

The only teams I didn't want to win more than Toronto were Edmonton and Phoenix. If Edmonton won, just another player to have his career ruined. If Phoenix won...it was fixed. |

Oh I know.
I could see Buffalo trying to make a big play for him.
And against what people tell me I could see the Flyers making a play.
I did see something the other day, not sure where, just a snipet but it was a trade offer.
would you do:
To Tampa - Giroux
To Philadelphia - Kucherov, Drouin and 2nd rounder.
I think those were the parameters. - J35Bacher
i honestly dont understand how flyers fan can continue to hypothetically propose trades involving Giroux. its baffling to me. a top line center, who averages almost a point per game his entire career, the NHL's leading scorer since 2010, a top line PP unit specialist, the teams second best PK'er, a fan favorite, a player who leaves it all there, literally never question his effort. its mind bottling to me

His skating was at least as good as White and VdV's, and they were much more of a liability in goals scored/conceded.
I don't think people realize just how rare it was for the Flyers to score a goal when the Hak line were out there huffing and puffing. |

Their starting pitching is very good, but at some point this year, the offense and relief will probably get exposed. It's a very nice trip right now, and they look like they have some pieces to start moving forward.
On a baseball note, I just watched the entire movie The Rookie last night. I know a lot of it was Hollywooded-up, but it makes you realize what some of these guys go through to make it in the pros. |

I was on the edge, but it was my anniversary weekend and Friday was the last night with the little lady before the in-laws took her the last 2 nights. Had I known they'd play Ten straight through, I would have been swayed. |

I over rate some prospects because of the fantasy baseball league I am in...but I pooped myself when I found out the return for Giles..almost makes up for that god awful Cliff Lee trade
I am kidding...it doesnt...nothing ever will
Amaro shouldve been taken out behind the shed as soon as he made that |

Add a couple of sticks, and they can be a competitive team. Like what I see. |

Are you talking about the return he got for Cliff Lee v1 or gave for Cliff Lee v2? Because I refuse to berate anything involving Cliff Lee returning to the Phillies. |

Yeah the lineup is thin, and the bullpen isn't great. But starting pitching is the toughest thing to get. They have some good arms in the rotation. I thought before the season started 100 losses was a foregone conclusion. That isn't going to happen, I know 25 games is a tiny sample, but I think they could maybe win 75 games or so. That is a step in the right direction for sure. They have been playing good, solid, fundamental baseball. The sweep in D.C. was sweet. |

Their corner outfield spots are horrific. If Altherr didn't get hurt I wonder how much better the offense would look. I think we'll see Nick Williams and maybe even Quinn come up mid-season along with Crawford and that's when the real fun will begin. Herrera's been a revelation. It's definitely been a fun ride and I hope that it continues. |

Velasquez got some nasty stuff.
I read that the Phillies could be major players for Bryce Harper in 2018 when he is a FA.
He could join a core of Crawford, Franco, Williams, Alfaro, Knapp, Ortiz and the pitchers that they have coming.

This isnt why the trade was made at all, people seem to miss the point. we didnt WANT umberger, so the fact that he wouldve been bought out is irrelevant to this trade. if umberger wasnt bought out, we wouldnt have even traded hartsy. the only way this deal worked is if we traded one bad contract for another. hartnell had no future here and we certainly would not have won a cup just because of hartnell.
this trade was done for one reason, realizing that at the end of the day, who's cap hit would come off the books first. umberger came off two years earlier. at the time of the trade, of course the talent we gave up was more than we were getting back, but it had little to nothing to do with that. now two years later, we only have to deal with one year of umberger instead of 3 for hartnell, having now more cap room to sign UFA/RFA and having room to move around the cap. - sjk540
I guess I just dont buy the fact that Hartnell wasnt worth ANYTHING else to ANY other team.
I mean, a 3rd rounder? A couple of young players? I dont buy it. They made that trade becasue they thought Umberger could bring what Hartnell brought (albeit at a bit lower end) and would have less term. That wasnt the case.
Since day one, I said I didnt like the trade, not that Hartnell was traded. |

Teams really place an emphasis on a closer nowadays. It's ridiculous. Not to mention Giles has been downright awful this year (though somewhat unlucky).
I always wanted the Flyers to convert Aumont into a defenseman. That guy was huge. |
