It's settled. Hawks won their cup during Kane's 3rd season, now some Leafs fans are sold that's when it'll happen there.

Soo this is still going on........

I don't think the Leafs tanked at all.

If Jon Bernier posted a save percentage anywhere close to normal, they don't finish last.

If Nazem Kadri shot anywhere close to his normal S%, or if his linemates shot anywhere close to what should have been expected, they wouldn't have finished last.

If JVR didn't miss the second half of the season, they don't finish last.

I believe I also saw somewhere that the Leafs had the biggest differential in the NHL between expected goals and actual goals.

Lot's of evidence to show that they were in fact one of the unluckiest/luckiest (depending on how you view it) teams in the NHL this year.

I don't think it's fair to say they tanked. What Buffalo did last year was a full on tanking.

Just my thoughts. I don't even think the NHL should prevent tanking, as it comes with it's own built in risks and consequences.

Great article though.

Auston Matthews makes Jack Eichel expendable.

That is all.

Was at 716 yesterday for lunch and was sitting at the high tables near the big TV. Walking in and looked up into the private room section of 716 to see Terry, Kim, Tim Murray, Bylsma, etc etc. eating lunch with a player/prospect. Looked like Drake Caggiula but couldn't definitively see his face from a distance.

Could be wrong on if it was him or not, but they aren't allowed to meet with draft prospects yet and don't think there's another college free agent that they'd wine and dine like that so my guess is it was him.

Just thought i'd throw it out there and see if others have heard if Caggiula is getting closer to making his decision or if anyone knows of who they were meeting with specifically

If they are "wining and dining" Caggiula, I hope to god its not at a place like 716. That place sucks and the food is horrible

Anyone hear anything on Drake Caggulia? I heard he visited with us and 7 other teams - decision this week. Has Sabres89 weighed in?
- Cup Crazy '07

Someone said they saw him at 716 with the Pegulas and company

I'm sure things are a lot better when your last name is Pegula... just a hunch.

I doubt they turn into a 5 star restaurant because pegula is there. Go to Tempo or olivers if you are wining and dining someone

Probably brought in his personal chef to make a meal.

Aparently you are not familiar with the process. When you wine and dine someone the point is to impress them. I wouldnt be impressed with them taking me to a sports bar with crappy food

The best meal I ever ate was at a factory (True Manufacturing)... The owner(s) bring in their personal chefs to make the meal in the factory kitchen. Could it be the same in this case? I think it's possible.

Edit: The atmosphere sucked but the meal made me want to sell their products...

I think the real question is why do they feel the need to "wine and dine" a player who most likely will not be very good in the NHL. If at all.

That is what I am offended off. Treating him like he is a top line talent, not where they took him.

If he is most likely not to be very good in the NHL why are there teams lining up to sign him?

I have no idea.

I am just going by history of the success rate of undrafted college free agents. Sure, Martin St Louis was very good and there may be a few others.

But history shows that undrafted college free agents usually don't make it.

I'd be more impressed eating with a man worth $4B than where I ate lunch with him.

You're right but then again there haven't been many undrafted free agents that have put up his numbers either.

Part of the reason he went undrafted is his size.
