I would think Yakupov and Eberle traded before RNH and why take a kid who primarily plays center, and slot him on the wing where Brown/Tkachuk/Nylander are natural wingers. TBH - I think EDM will keep the pick and go for Juolevi anyway. I don't think they are going to get a number 1 D-man through summer acquisitions anyway so they will need to continue to fill the d-man prospect cupboard. - Codes1087
I think they should do this too.
The fact is they might trade that 4th which opens up a lot of possibilities of who is taken at that spot.
I suspect if a forward is taken at 4th (perhaps Dubois) then JB might trade down, end up taking a D at 8-10 and acquiring more assets.
Nothing wrong with that scenario. |

I'd prefer Dubois to Tkcschuk. Bigger, younger, plays center and not with Marner. |

I can see that.
the more i hear about Dubois, the more i like him.
edit: although i wouldn't mind seeing some more write ups/thoughts about Tkatchuk myself. |

Yes...I like what I hear... wasnt quite as convinced when I looked at highlights on youtube. Lots of shots of net but think only 1 was a goal. Perhaps I'll view a couple other vids on him and see if theres a difference. Definitely a dominant type player though. I liked how he was a playmaker on several plays.
Tkachuk I mentioned before that he seemed to make mathews at the worlds....he was the playmaker and seemed to do the bulk of the work with mathews a 1 shot finisher. Strong play by tkachuk. Energy guy and versatile. |

Do you honestly think Horvat is a first line centre in the NHL?
Horvat's SR - Long-term he projects as an ideal third-line center in the NHL. He could find himself on a team’s top six.
Virtanen's SR - Long term he projects as a heavy-hitting power forward with a nose for the net. He will be among the Canucks top six forwards in the near future.
I don't know if two years is giving them enough time to develop. That's a lot of expectation for these two. - bloatedmosquito
I think in two years we need the younger players to start taking over. Eventually in my scenario i would see the Kachook, Dubois, Boeser line as the top line and the Baertschi, Horvat, Virtanen line as the second pairing and the Sedins on the 3rd line.
McCann depending on how he fills out, etc... might be the 2nd line center or a winger based on his development over 3 years.
Ideally, Horvat isn't your 1st line center, but he's been exceeding expectations and is better than a 3rd line center even at this point. |

How about Tanev, Gaunce, and a pick for the 4th? The pick would not include this years 1st. Next years 1st? - bloatedmosquito
We should figure out a way to get that 4th... maybe get a 3rd party to offer something of value to the Oilers for the 4th and then we offer up Tanev or Edler and something for the 4th. T
That way we get 2/3rds of a top line in this draft just like we did with the Sedins back in the day...
I like the idea of getting Kachook and Dubois instead of just one or the other.
Either way, we are definitely getting one of them unless someone offers up a top 10 pick where we can take one of the Dmen (Sergachev) and a second first rounder. |

Sven is only going to get better. He was solid down the stretch and is getting more and more confident. |

Why? After Hansen he was probably our best player. |

Sven is still a 2nd line LW at best. |

Why? Who made these standards? Sedins were labelled as second liners half their career. |

I think that speaks more to out depth (or lackthereof) than the where Sven should play.
On a team like SJ, LAK, Dallas, STl both Sven and Hansen would be in the bottom 6.
not saying they're not good players, with value, but they're playing above where they should, ideally.

Disagreed for Sven. I think he hits 25 goals next year if he's healthy. |

Although fair, I wouldn't do it. We need the best forward available in my opinion. Perhaps Miller and our 2nd to ANa for their first. Preferably they accept our 3rd |

Sedins have never been labelled second liners. First liners are usually all-stars. Do you see Sven ever being an All-star? |

He can't even make the Swiss team for the World Championship, but Weber made the team. |

Hard to say, isn't really a market for a 6 mill back up goalie. |

Never? Their first four years everyone had them labelled as second liners. Of course I see him as an all star. He hits 25 goals next year if healthy. By the way John Scott was an all star. |

If JB is willing to deal the 5 pick and other parts. I say try to get Jost and Fabbro in the middel of the first round. I know they played in the BCHL but they will only get better by playing in the NCAA and will be ready to make an impact in 3-4 years from now.
Hansen and a 4th for Boston's 14th
our 5th and next years 3rd rounder for Montreal's 9th and McCarron
A ton of cap relief and 3 solid prospects coming back our way. |
