Big couple of days for Ghost. First his master comes back to life, and now a Calder trophy nomination. |

Re: Ghost and the Calder
I believe that Ghost deserves to win the award. First off, it's much harder to break into the league as a rookie on D than it is to break in as a forward. Secondly, he had a major impact on his team and was as instrumental as anyone in getting the Flyers into the playoffs. OTOH, while McD played very well, the Oilers were still one of the worst teams in the league and while Panarin had a great season, he is 24, has much more pro experience than the other finalists and was blessed to play on a very good team with Patrick Kane as a linemate.
When you factor everything in, and look at it all objectively, I believe the Calder should go to Ghost. - BiggE
I'm not sure where this notion of McDavid being less worthy of the Calder because he plays for a bad Edmonton team comes from. According to the Nhl's website, the award goes to the player who has the most proficient season. It says nothing about team. By any measure, McDavid was hellishly proficient. You could make the argument that he only played in 45 games and that is too small a sample size, I suppose. Still, 48 points in 45 games is impressive.
I will neither be shocked nor appalled if McDavid wins the trophy. Ditto for Panarin. Should Gostisbehere win the Calder, I will be ecstatic. He's been far better than I anticipated, and the fact that he has managed to keep a level head, remain humble and continue to give credit to everyone but himself makes him both a rarity and a treasured commodity in today's sports world. |

I believe it's a lot easier to pile up points on a bad team playing with no pressure to make the playoffs. What Ghost did, on a team struggling and succeeding in getting in, is much more impressive in my opinion. |

Agree, the team he plays for, shouldn't be a factor. If McDavid had played a full season, he'd probably win hands down. I won't be shocked or appalled either if he wins it, but I'd vote Panarin first, Gostisbehere second. Also, would have no qualms with anyone saying Gostisbehere should win it, because he is very deserving. He made a big impact on his team, and their season.

No I watched it. I was just kicking your ribs a bit.
Seriously though.. I know a ton of people who are new to the show, and they get so pissed because people just put it right on social media. Come onnnnnn |

I don't have the level of commitment to watch sitcoms.

Dude.. he cares about those of you who *do* watch the show. He's looking out for your best interest, because he's that sort of caring watching-out-for-people type person.
Yeah.

Well, for the sake of people watching it on the west coast and in other countries I think giving it 24 hours is a good idea. |

Having read ASoFaI long before the show came out has ruined it a bit for me.
The changes made in the show, while they make sense from a TV perspective , are annoying if you like the books.
In the end Ill take no Lady Stoneheart and the other changes for how well I thought they pulled off the Red Wedding.. |

I saw a guy today who hasn't read the books complaining about how dumb it was for the show to resurrect a main character, and how GRRM would never do something so cheap. |

Well, I mean, it was on more than 36 hours ago. Since everyone has tons of free time to just lounge around and watch a TV show every night. If you haven't seen it by now, it's because you're a scumbag. |

My boss is upset with things like, "Arya was supposed to be blind as her first lesson in the temple," and other intricacies. The changes, for the most part, are so minute and insignificant, and the show is done so well, that I don't know how someone can be upset with it.
It's not like Ender's Game where they just jettisoned the entire story and made something loosely based on the novel. |

I actually like the way the books and the series have diverged. It keeps both interesting.
edit: also, at the rate Martin is putting out books, at least the series will come to a conclusion. Unless he starts eating healthy or writing a hell of lot faster, he'll never make it to the end.
