With everyone talking about upgrading the wings with skill would David Perron interest anyone? he played well in Anaheim after the trade and is 27. Can play both LW and RW.
Also with Anaheim looking to make some changes with another game 7 loss I wonder if Jakob Silfverberg would be available. Could something like Laughton and Read. Silfverberg is 6'1'', plays both LW and RW, kills penalties.
If Caggulia does sig with Philadelphia does that make someone like Laughton available to try and move and reshape the roster as it seems Caggulia could slide into a 3rd line role? - J35Bacher
I am a much bigger fan of Silfverberg, mostly because of how often people will pronounce and spell his name. And no I dont think any college UFA signing will stop Laughton from reaching his potential. |

Congrats to Ghost. I would be nice if he would win it.
On an off topic note (not sure if it has already been mentioned), but the Goldberg's (TV show on ABC) will be dedicating their May 11th episode to Mr. Snider. |

I don't know about Laughton. I wanted to give him time and I hoped to see him take a step this season but he didn't seem comfortable in his role as a 3rd line center. I know it is early. But right now it seems like Cousins has maybe pushed ahead of him.
I am mixed on him right now. Not sure what he is and what his future is. |

Big couple of days for Ghost. First his master comes back to life, and now a Calder trophy nomination. - Feanor

I think the message was pretty clear that he needs to be better...Next season is anustart and he can win that spot. What I really meant was that he has the highest ceiling so far, so if he develops further (still very young) he will earn that spot back. I doubt they decide that he wont reach that potential and trade him unless they get quite a deal |

1) I signed Perron in NHL16 he works great with Schenn and Couts
2) I actually saw an article the other day; one of those "15 trades that could happen" and it had the flyers trading Streit (half retained) a pick and maybe a prospect for Silfverbrg. |

honestly, pavelski should get every single award, including the calder, vezina, and jennings. if he doesn't, it's (frank)ing robbery and total bullpoop. |

I don't know.
Laughton was a point producer in juniors but he isn't expected to really be that in the pros.
Also they drafted a guy I think has the same type of skill set as Laughton in Samuel Dove-McFalls.
I understand he needs to step it up. Lots of guys do. Just not sure if Laughton is such a lock anymore for the future as once thought. Still time. But wouldn't be surprised if moved either |

so the whole rookie of the year thing...that is made up as an award because it is the person who plays the best as a rookie, which is notable because they "aren't supposed to be" as good as a veteran or someone with some experience. Similar to what you're saying where Panarin learned from playing pro hockey in Russia and is more seasoned, which makes his competence at the NHL level less outstanding, if you will.
Wouldn't that same logic sort of be applied in reverse for McDavid? Not only did he play in junior hockey last year, but he also missed time and was less seasoned and accustomed to life in the NHL. He was the best rookie when he was playing, but the whole theory of being a rookie should suggest that less games makes what he did even harder and more impressive.
To use an IRL analogy...if two nurses start their job at the same time and one goes on maternity leave halfway through the year. If they are on the same level once she returns from leave, isn't it more impressive? - YuenglingJagr
absolutely. coming from juniors as an 18 yo and doing what he did is outstanding and he deserves all the praise. my only pause is only playing 45 games. honestly all 3 are worthy based on their talents |

Congrats to Gostisbehere on the nomination, he is very deserving. I think it will go to Panarin though, who is also very deserving. I don't think the Flyers would've made the playoffs without the offensive jolt Gostisbehere added, and I think he's going to get even better. - MJL
welcome back!
what did you think of the Caps series?
disappointed in the performance of the Flyers top guys, amazed by Neuvirth...

I have not seen him play but from reading about him I had the impression that he was more of a grinder type and his NHL potential was bottom six/4th line.
I think Laughton is still very young and the next season will be key for him. I think he still has a ton of potential, his game could be similar to B Schenn with time.

Yeah, I took the Dove-McFalls draft pick as selecting a guy whose size (6'2" 205) and ability to play well defensively made him intriguing.
And it's not like Dove-McFalls lights up the scoresheet in a league with a lot of offense.
I wouldn't slot him in to be anything right now, in the NHL depth chart.

Yeah Dove-McFalls might not even be more than a 4th liner at best. Maybe a good one, but that remains to be seen. His year was disappointing -- because of major injury and his stats weren't too impressive returning either.
I view Laughton now as a sheltered scoring winger. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's not an NHL center. How good of a winger? Idk. I'd like to see him get better linemates (which won't happen next year probably). I'm not all that high on Laughton tbh. |

So Bob Hartley was fired one year removed from their little dream season, where all their underlying stuff was awful but they kept winning. This year same story, minus the wins. Good...that roster is pretty stacked if they get a better, more aggressive systems coach.
And somehow Patrick Roy keeps twitching away on the Avs bench. |
