I think it's a damned if they do damned if they don't situation. If he continues even marginal improvement from where he's at for the next 2 years, they're going to be paying him $10M. He's got 130 points the last two seasons combined (64 in 82 last year and 66 in 77 this year) including 30 G this year. Plus his so far playoff leading 7 goals in 8 games. I don't see how they can afford to roll the dice with a bridge deal. He's only a month away from his 23rd birthday.

He out produced His draft ranking and Out produced Stamkos their franchise player
They can't (frank) around with the situation just give him whatever he wants and that's it

It's definitely a good problem to have "oh, no, we have too many good players..." usually one or at best two of that group are going to pan out, with another one being a solid top 9 guy, and usually at different times, but all of them at once? And all of them being all-star caliber talents? That just doesn't happen. Even Palat the "worst" of the group still put up 40 points in 62 games this year. The Sabres only had 3 forwards with at least 40 points this year.

Great scouting staff especially When Tyler Johnson is undrafted free-agent that's a free gem

I have never once thought Gudbranson was a top D man. That 1st round was awful for D men.

Gudbranson
Tinordi
Fowler
Pysyk
Gormley
McIlrath
Forbort

Ouch

Could be. You never know. I like Chychrun from what I have seen of him.

I don't think he's going to ever be a Norris contrnder, but I see him as that steady all around Seabrook #2 type

I've been away for a few days - have you heard anything interesting? Word has it that Caggiula was in town.

Trade the Pick.

There are teams up against the cap that you can waive that pick in front of and get damn good value IMO.

Like player and pick swap value.

Haven't heard anything lately I did read someone posted he was in town, I did mention the Yandle talk started again. I don't know if you heard that or not.

I doubt that Tampa does that. Would probably need to include Girgs or Pysyk.

Would be a nice addition. Think we need a defender more. But that could still come later.

Unfortunately Drouin has reached untouchable level now, IMO.

Should have struck while the Iron was hot.

Yeah I was at 716 Sunday and saw TPegs and Kim, Murray, Bylsma and the rest of the Sabres staff having lunch with what looked like Caggiula but can't confirm or deny that. Looked up a picture of him and he had a massive beard from during the season so it's hard to tell whether it was him on Sunday

I think the phone we will be calling is trading that pick for Shattenkirk.

Heard McKenzie or one of the TSN guys saying that he was actually going to be available.

TB's cap is FRANKED too... have BIG RFA's to resign on top of Bishop and Hedman who will both ask for 6.5M+ EACH.

I see Stamkos's rights getting traded at the draft at least 1 or 2 times. They will still probably get a 2 or 3rd rounder JUST for that.

He's not looking for a RHD, if that pick is moved it won't be for him.

Opinions aside on their value, what are the chances that these players will be here opening night next year?

Legwand depending on if he wants to play and if we feel no one can take his place on the PK. Pysyk might be lower. Girgs will be here.

Just a random thought.

Trade #8 (add in a 3rd if needed) to Boston for 14 and 23ish

or

Trade #8 (add in a 3rd if needed) to Carolina for 13 and 21ish

Use 13 or 14 along with the boatload of other picks to get a LHD.

Figure out how to draft Sean Day in the late 2nd.

I'd rather just draft the defenseman. I'm cool with trading the 8th and a few of our players for a defenseman too but I don't want to give it to Boston or Carolina for more picks. That's just me.

My question is are we overvaluing Lindholm or Fowler? Would 8th overall be enough for Lindholm? I didn't think so at first but maybe? We'll never know the answer to this I'm just thinking out loud that maybe we're willing to overpay. Or maybe that's not enough. Honestly haven't watched enough Anaheim games to know.
