Even with Stamkos that team doesn't make the playoffs next year. If they do they grab one of the last wildcard spots and are out first round. The year after I'd be worried

That's typically the case, but I think there's guys out now that would make a good editions(IE Kane, Eichel). I'm thinking the September hockey is keeping them away.

Shattenkirk is supposedly going to be on the trade block. What would it take to get him. Trade for him and then deal Franson (who I forgot was even on the team.). If we are sellers at the deadline and it doesn't look like he will resign, he should get a good return. I am hoping we are buyers not sellers though, finally.
