Demers is another one too, has all the right fancy stats. Maybe Schenn as well. Bet Campbell gets interest too on a short term deal if he goes to UFA. - Sabresfan-365
Campbell is 37 and will be in the 1 year deal range from here on out.
Schenn is a stay at home and not a very good one really. |

I think he'll get 6 or close to it but cant see it for more than 4 years. |

Than these two? yea absolutely but not if the stay at home guy is an actual top pairing stay at home guy. Yandle to me only really works for this team if you can get Risto to tone down the offensive and become far less aggressive because having two of those on your top pair could wind up being disastrous unless your scoring like the Stars did this year. - Sabresfan-365
I don't think it's 100% necessary that the D man we bring in absolutely has to be Risto's partner. I think we just really need another guy that can drive some production at even strength and the PP. Yandle does. |

Murray is way to smart to draft a softy like him |

I agree Yandle is the best, but I don't see him as a major FA prize like Suter was. I think it will be a small number of teams trying to get him.
He's obviously going to get good money, I just don't see a team having to make him a top 20 paid defenseman - sbroads24
There's always one and honestly hope it isn't Buffalo. |

Jost is going late top ten would not shock me if he was our pick at 8

I don't want him for 6 to 7 years. 3-4 absolutely.
Frankly he's better than Bogosian, and getting Gorges off the books makes it easier to fit |

If it were a deal like Green then yes. Anything more than 3 years and no thanks.
Learn from Moulson.
Only guy on the market potentially worth anything more than 3 years is Stamkos IMO. |

Agree to disagree then. I think its got to be a top pairing guy and it has to be someone who's good at taking the puck back and moving it out of the zone as quickly as possible. Won't show up on the boxscore but definitely need that kind of guy to go up against other top lines, especially in the playoffs. We could use a guy who drives production at even strength too but i would place it as a lower priority. |

Id give Demers a long ish deal...as in more than 3 years not like a max deal or anything like that |

He's a ok player but not a player I'd give more than 3 years to.
And Stamkos IMO would be optimal to be in a 5 yr deal but we all know that isn't happening. |

Wouldn't you call Hjalmarsson a top pairing guy? He doesn't always play with Keith.
Muzzin doesn't always play with Doughty, Shattenkirk doesn't play with Peitrangelo.
I think having 2 guys that can be effective on two different pairs is better than having a top pair. |

Depends how long he wants to stay in college. GM's gotta be smart about taking college bound players early. They can burn you later on. if hes a one and done id be ok with taking him at 8 potentially |

Don't get me wrong, if you are able to land that prototypical partner for Risto, go for it. I just think Yandle is good enough to seriously consider. I think we can all agree he'd be our 2nd best D man by a decent margin |

I would be fine drafting him who knows he pull a ROR and make the team his rookie year .. Who knows what the cards are for him in college I would just hate myself if we lost out on a benn type player |

What are the pairs in your mind then?
I'm not sure which side these guys play, but I'd think it would setup as:
Gorges/McCabe-Ristolainen
Bogosian-Yandle
Gorges/McCabe-Pysyk
I'm with you though in thinking they'd be in good shape with splitting up to make 2 much better lines. |

IMO
McCabe/Risto
Bogo/Yandle
Pysyk/Gorges/Nelson/Franson
Can't rule out Guhle making an impression in camp either.
Bogo and Risto probably get the most even strength time. Yandle gets a majority of PP time, offensive zone starts |

Your comparisons are always top of line and a bit outlandish.
Pat Kane, Jamie Been etc etc. These players are few and far between. |

I like Schenn as a 5-6 guy.
Better than Gorges or Franson.
Trade Both and hold salary on both to up value.
Get more 3rd round picks.
Sign Schenn.

I'd rather have Franson than Schenn to be honest. Both are slow as (frank), Franson is better offensively |
