ISS just released their draft rankings and this certainly makes things interesting...
Pulj ahead of Laine..
Nylander ahead of Tkachuk and Dubois...

This is just to throw Edmonton off the scent so Benning can then choose between Tkachuk and Dubois. |

some sort of brotherly bias?
Maybe the Leafs will pick him first? |

He scored 40 points in his 20 year old season...he is a kid that is growing and has a great attitude. You have high expectations for a 2C my friend. What is he average production expected from a 2C on a playoff team? 45-55 points? Horvat should have over 50 points for the next 10 years - CanuckDon
I dont think I have high expectations for a 2C, on good teams their 2C's are over 60 points, most are in that 50+ range though. I do think I am just tempering expectations for Horvat. His stats are good and has produced well so far, but I look at his goals and see how they came and have doubts that those power going to still work in a few years against better NHL defenseman who match up with him. I'm not saying he cant develop more moves or get more creative, I just think extrapolating his stats on a continual growth as a guarantee is high expectations on a two-way guy who puts in work at both ends of the rink |

I think people are putting too much into what at 1C is supposed to be. If you put him on a line with Boeser and Tkachuck and they can put the puck in the net, control the play, put in big minutes and be defensively responsible then you can call that the #1 line. The best way to mitigate the fear of Horvat as a #1 center is to actually have 3 other lines that can all play and help with secondary scoring, then the pressure won't be on him to score 80 points a season. - fiveandagame

I think all the scouts and experts like us ( ) are struggling what order the D should be in....I actually don't mind the 5th spot. We appear to have an easy choice following Edmonton |

Pretty sure I read that capacity will be over 5000 - MaWLz
Good to know. I wasn't totally sure on capacity I was talking to the owner of the Junior A team and I thought he said 3700 was capacity but he may have meant 4700+ which is even better. |

Horvat got 40 points as a 20 year old
Sutter best season in his career is 40 points
To argue about sutter being a better 2c is rediculous. They are both great 3c and at this point ok 2cs |

Anyone call Bob Hartley yet? - Beatle_john
Just to re-comment on the Hartley firing. I always thought he was massively overrated even in the Avs days where he acquired an already great club. The Coach of the year award was a joke to me. AV takes the Rangers to almost a 55 win season and Laviolette takes the Preds from 3rd last to almost 1st overall and they give the Jack Adams to Hartley for getting a bubble team in the playoffs. unreal.
Was WD out coached by Hartley in the first round of the PO's? Sure…but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as some make it out on here. Give me WD over Hartley anyway.
And I will say Carol I heard some pretty big backlash from my contacts in the Flames organization about Hartley sitting out Monahan and Goudreau for the Leafs game last year in Calgary. They were being disciplined I get it but you don't bench your biggest draw talent vs the Habs or the Leafs…it doesn't happen. Not only were the season ticket holders MASSIVELY pissed about this they actually had calls from Leafs and Habs fans complaining about it. It was a bonehead move on hartleys part no doubt. Sit them out vs CLB or some team no one gives a crap about…not the Leafs or the Habs which are the biggest draws of the year.
Plus the classless move starting McGratton and his boneheads that one game in the Torts blowup. Just a douchebag move by hartley.
So moving on from the Hartley thing I could see it coming and it was no shock to me anyway that he got canned before WD or a few other coaches for that matter. Huge;y overrated. |

Just read on today's NHL Trade Rumors (mostly quotes from newspapers or requotes of GMs) that Habs want to trade up to 4 or 5 to get Dubois or Tkachuk - VANTEL
Sounds like MB is trying to play JB & PC against each other.
2 ex Bruins bosses oughta squeeze him back lol |

The Sedins are two players not one. I'm not so sure Hank has a long career as a #1 all by himself.... - boonerbuck
He won a Hart trophy when Dank was injured. Says it all. |

Didn't Hartley also get the Thrashers into the playoffs years ago? |
