He should have a draft board which makes that no issue at all. Again, more challenging IMO will be trying to get full value while he's on the clock assuming the Oilers don't move their pick. - golfingsince
This is where I think he would struggle. |

I think the obvious trade to the Habs is
Swap firsts.
We need D they need centres. Juulsen and McCann swap and we pick up their second round pick also
We take Brown at 9 th to replace McCann and we get our D |

McCann + Dubois/Tkachuk for Juulsen + Brown. I am not sure how I feel about that. I would be down for a McCann for Juulsen though |

That definitely evens the trade more. I would definitely consider it. McKenzie seems to be much higher on Tkachuk than he is on Dubois. |

this is still not worth it.
We need Dubois. Who else is going to be our future #1 centre??
We should be trying to get the Oil's 1st and take both Kachook and Dubois. That's our future top line right there... throw in Boeser and it's game set and match.
Tkachook/Dubois/Boeser
Baertschi/Horvat/Virtanen
McCann/Cassels/Grenier
Gaunce/ Sutter/Etem
Trade Sedins in the year before they retire and get some decent picks/ defence prospects... |

I'm not convinced Dubois is a top line player in the NHL. |

People in general were pretty high on the Sedins. They came from a soccer background and started hockey late. The biggest issue drafters had is that they wanted to play together. |

Tkachuk will be a first line left winger. Why would we trade him for anything other than a first line center? This site is confusing |

Where are you getting the idea that we are going to land the 4th or 6th overall draft picks to grab both Tkachuk AND Dubois?

I am definitely wanting JB to keep the 5th overall pick OR use it to move up. I am not opposed to listening to what people have to say on here regarding moving down tho. It would have to be a pretty insane offer for me to want to move down. Moving down almost forces JB's hand at picking a D-man which might not be bad, but I am really high on getting Tkachuk at this point. Him and Boeser are the future 1st line |

For how weird/obscure/hipster Portland claims to be, I am surprised they aren't all over hockey. They have an arena, they have an American population and they have beer, those are the 3 Bettman requirements for an NHL team right? |

I think a more appropriate reasoning would be someone like Jamie Benn. No one pegged him to be top-6 and developed well above expectations. Draft status stops mattering after the contract has been signed, then you have to put the work in like everyone else. If Dubois or Tkachuk have the skills and smarts (which most of the reports I have seen give praise in those areas), then getting the physical and mental aspects down is the responsibility of the Canucks' development team to unlock their potential. Its not easy, but I'm not going to say these guys in the top 5 wont be first liners just yet |

Exactly! Tkachuk- Horvat - Boeser....hopefully we draft a 1 C next year as Horvat seems like an excellent 2C. Our need for scoring > our need for D. A trade would be a poor idea unless some team makes a stupid trade offer. A #4 D man and some 2nd round picks is not enough for 1st line talent! |
