I am definitely wanting JB to keep the 5th overall pick OR use it to move up. I am not opposed to listening to what people have to say on here regarding moving down tho. It would have to be a pretty insane offer for me to want to move down. Moving down almost forces JB's hand at picking a D-man which might not be bad, but I am really high on getting Tkachuk at this point. Him and Boeser are the future 1st line

I'm not sure how much of it has to do with the name, but I have been feeling the same way since the lottery results. I am preparing for him to be off the board though, because Canucks

For how weird/obscure/hipster Portland claims to be, I am surprised they aren't all over hockey. They have an arena, they have an American population and they have beer, those are the 3 Bettman requirements for an NHL team right?

The Knights play by play guy seems to be higher on Tkachuk than Marner...kid is a stud. I fully anticipate we end up with Dubois and not Tkachuk

Dubois would be an excellent alternative IF Tkachuk is taken. I am also very hesitant on placing the 1C tag on Horvat. Horvat is an tremendous talent but I am not sure what his ceiling is. He could be our next Kesler (without the attitude and whining). AND if Horvat ends up being our 2C, I would be more than happy with that

David Backes now leads playoffs with three game winning goals. 2g, 9 hits, 2 blocks, 3 sog, +2, 72% on face-offs in Game 3 win #stlblues

Backes is really playing well! Not sure if you guys are watching the Blues/Stars series but St. Louis looks good.

It was nice watching really good hockey!!
On the other hand, it shows how far the Canucks have to go before they are close to being competitive again.

I definitely dont have Horvat pegged at 1C, I think he is really good but I just dont see him being the skill guy you want in the middle of your top line (chemistry depending obviously). His power style and defensive smarts to me says more of 2-3C. I might be in the minority around here, but I think McCann still has what it takes to be a 1-2C. He has the skill, grit, and has shown pretty good hockey IQ so far. With strength and some confidence, I can see him bringing that swagger/pesty play he had in Jr's to the NHL

A lot would have to go wrong for Horvat to be a 3C

My God Kris Russel Sucks.

I can't believe Calgary thought that scrub was better than Hamhuis.

- classic321

Should have paid up for Hamhuis...I'll be happy when they lose and look at the dcore, and know it was not good enough.

Their goaltending is still questionable too.

Ya that was my thoughts too. The Blues are deep, big and fast at forward and their blueline is so deep as well. They have some smallish skilled forwards too mind you, Schwartz and Fabbri, but they're pretty damn good.

With a deep team like that you don't need A-1 sauce goaltending, although their guy is playing well.

He only turns 20 in a few weeks. Most prospects don't have NHL ready bodies when drafted. It will take a few years to fill out, that's why I don't understand the rush to trade him.

Or a lot would have to go right.

Having Bo play 3C would mean we have two better guys up the middle.

No rush to trade him at all. He wants to be a NHL regular, which is why he isn't going home for the summer and why he is staying with the trainers in VAN to get big and strong. The kid has drive that is for sure.

Or right... I look at Horvat similarly to Girgensons in Buffalo. When they drafted him they had him top 6 C with a good two-way game, but with the way the past few years have gone they have Eichel and Reinhart ahead of him. Now add in O'reilly and down the middle they look really good for the coming years. Even to a lesser extent, the cup winning penguins and Crosby, Malkin, Staal. If Horvat ends up being the 3C, I think that shows the team is really strong, and not an indication that Horvat isnt very good because he is

Yes and no.
Right now Horvat is our 3lc. If in 5 years he is our 3lc then we have either signed Stamkos, or another 1lc,Sutter stays 2lc and Horvat has stagnated. If that is the case and that is what you project him to be, then trade him for Drouin now, trade down our pick for a defenceman.
Future top line
Drouin ? Boeser

Or keep Horvat. Make him our responsible big minute eating top line center who doesn't put up points but covers for kachook(lol my nickname for him) and Boeser

Boeser 1st line sniper
Kachook 1st line playmaker
Horvat top 6 two way forward.

Dare to dream, why not!

I understand your point...but what team has a 25 goal scoring, 50 point man at 3C? The Pens when they had staal? Not realistic in he salary cap era?
