Bigger issue is getting only 1 goal in the 2nd. Felt like we had enough opportunities to put this game away when we controlled the tempo. And rust couldn't get his stick on 2 tap in goals tonight. Always felt in the second period that the Caps would get atleast one more today.

Nope that's not how it works. If he's beaten out by others for roster spots then he doesn't play. He has a lot to prove and should be given nothing. He has to earn it.

We already have 15 NHL forwards if we bring Cullen back. Pouliot is still elc so he's not expensive. If we bring Schultz back we still need a 7d. Not sure we can find someone better than Pouliot for that role and he might be usable next year with 60 or so NHL games in the regular season.
