have all told us to suck it, and now we can add Caggiula to that list, and I'm sure there's more. After 4-5 years of Pegula's overhaul of the organization, it still seems like we're not much better a destination for UFA's. - sskkoo1

Kane-Oreilly-Reinhart
Foligno-Girgensons-Fasching
Moulson-Larsson-Gio/D-lo
Fowler-Risto
Mccabe-Bogo
Gorges-Nelson
(this is just for fun and I have no idea if this is even close to what it would take)

Richards wanted to play for the Rangers, Parise and Suter wanted to go home, Babcock is just a cock. I don't know the college guy you're speaking of.
You can't sign everyone. That's why you throw everything you can at everyone, and eventually something sticks. |

Not really even close, probably add another 1st from Buffalo, at least, and probably another 2nd or 3rd. Ennis is the enigma, what's his value? He's a proven 20 goal guy, but he's dealing with a concussion that made him miss 60 games. People say he sucked when he played, but he was right at his career average for points. |

What is Fowlers value? Perry? Depends how down Anaheim is on them. Do they believe in Fowler? or do they believe hes replaceable with some of the young guys coming up. A top 10 pick may be very attractive to them if they love a player in that range |

No thank you, Perry is soon to be 31 and with his style of play will decline quickly. He also makes 8.625 mil until he's 36. Fowler isn't bad but he's overrated and isn't the answer on our top pair. I'd rather have Lindholm. I'd be very unhappy if this deal ever happened. |

Understand the age concern on Perry. I just love him haha i think he and Eichel could be magic. Im not sure where the Lindholm talk has been coming from but I dont see him being moved at all. Fowler is our best bet I believe. Perry scored 34 goals last season at 30 years old... |

This sounds stupid at first..but if u think about it, he was KIND OF a big deal...i mean he's not stamkos...but he was a legit free agent at the time
EDIT: don't forget this was a guy who played on a line with Tavares |

A few months ago Friedman mentioned that the Ducks are likely to move whichever RFA d-man costs more to retain. That and the 89 of the other boards mentioned that he was "available".
They'd be nuts to move him, but we'd be even more nuts not to go after him. |

Casey Bailey was the Toronto guy I was thinking of, but I think my point stands though. We have been pitching UFA's on Buffalo for a while now and have yet to land any. Sure, they might have personal reasons for signing with other towns, but hey we were sold that, "Pegula always gets his man," so fare he's at least 0-5. |

The beauty about this is that he only needs to land 1 and the rest will be forgotten. Just like Toronto and Babcock. |

Our main target should be an elite talent. Stamkos fits in that category but I dont know how likely that signing will be. Sure we can maybe sign a guy like Okposo but he is not an Elite player. Perry is elite and is up there in age but if we can get 3-4 more years of solid play out of him I would take that. (not saying hes necessarily avail) |

Interesting. Makes sense that vatanen would be moved before lindholm. But if Fowler is moved then maybe both RFA's could be signed |

Most of the time college free agent signings are pretty weak, so I'm not too worried about missing out on them. |

Casey Nelson was probably the most sought after college free agent d-man this season |

I thought about Nelson, but I don't recall there being that big of a deal over him. I knew there were other teams interested, but it kind of seems like we signed him out of nowhere, we offered him the contract and he said okay. |

I dont think you can really downplay that signing. He was definitely wanted by multiple teams. He chose the sabres. Hes a starting defenseman in the NHL that we didnt have to give up assets for. I consider that a win.

Thing is, Fowler handles a lot of minutes for them at a pretty good price, doesnt make much sense for a budget team to want to move that.
My assumption is Vatanen as well but I don't know what his or Lindholms ask would be.
Edit: Years may be an issue as well |

I also consider it a win, it's just that I personally don't recall a big contest for him, not that there wasn't teams interested. Caggiula and Vessy have been going on for a while now, Schulz in Edmonton was highly sought after, so was Blake Wheeler and Hayes. I just seems like Pegula and even the direction the Sabres are heading in doesn't hold the pull we all hoped for. |
