Everyone seems to forget, Darcy never had any interest in Brad Richards. His focus was on Leino the whole time.

Wow, no kidding. I don't know if that is better or worse.

I am afraid of both landing and not landing Stamkos. To quote Rose Perez in "White Men Can't Jump", sometimes when you win you really lose and sometimes when you lose you really win. Hence my comments about not having the honor of dishing out giant contracts to some questionable FA's.
- Slump Buster

We'd likely still be a bubble team without Eichel or ROR if we'd signed Parise. Maybe not Richards because he was not good, or at least didn't perform up to his contract, but how many UFA really do? Look at Frolik. The guy who was supposed to flourish. He had all the analytics coming out of his ass, and what did he do this year? Scored 15 G and averaged .5 ppg and missed almost 25% of the season.

Also, agree, I don't love the idea of Stamkos, but I don't hate it either. What I really don't like is the fact that Finally we've done a real rebuild and have a real nice team with real top-notch talent, but a team like Toronto is in the middle of doing the same thing. We have to face the fact that they also have some nice players that will be impactful soon. We went after Casey Bailey, they got him. We went after Babcock, they got him. We plan on going after Stamkos, so do they, who will get him? Smart money says them. If the do get Stamkos and he works out there, were screwed. I don't see us consistently winning playoff rounds against them when they have Matthews and Stamkos added to the talent pool they already have.

Cam Ward also won a cup forever ago. So what? I'd take Chad Johnson and pocket the other 4 mill. Goalies don't win cups - how many times does this need to be proven.
- Slump Buster

His numbers are top 10 in the league the last 2 years and top 5-6 this year!!! Again look it up, you ll be surprised how good they are (and I know its not because of the Pens great d)

They don't????Murray is beating the caps

I agree - it was a good thing we didn't land those guys. What transpired after that needed to be happen.

He was waiting for all the hype with Richards and then he grabbed Leino, why I don't know. Some players are better in the systems they are in and when you sign them to a big contract, sometimes it doesn't work out.

I was told before that during practice Lindy kept moving Leino around and he looked over to the person my uncle is friends with and he said " No matter where I put him (Leino ), he still F$$KIN Stinks" .

Whoa. Let's no get crazy now.

Fleury is a good goalie for sure. It would cost a lot to trade for him.

I am just against it since they already gave up a first for Lehner.

That's pretty much what I just stated. When Pegula first got here, we weren't all that bad, we were a bubble team. He tried to bring in the names and other UFA's like college guys and we were turned down then. We took a few years off in pursuit to do the rebuild and now we're looking again, but so far it appears we're still being told no by UFA's that we're going after. Time will tell, but so far we haven't lured really anybody that's been coveted by multiple teams.
- sskkoo1

You keep leaving out a big distinction that the previous poster mentioned. That being that, yes, we are looking at FA's again, but until we show signs of real progress (challenging for a playoff spot), it's more than likely that we'll continue being told NO.....and I don't take that as a surprise or a knock on Buffalo, just that guys want to play for a team with a shot at winning.

we have NOT yet rounded that corner, so I'm not too concerned about it

Tampa has some good players we can try for if they keep Stamkos, can't pay everyone but the goal is still Stamkos for TM and CO.

I posted about this earlier.

Although I thought is was Pegula that said (frank) off to his agent's demands that teams had to drive up to Canada to meet with him.

I think he meant high cost goalies don't win Cups. Which I don't necessarily agree with. But obviously a hot goalie can steal a series or a Cup. Patrick "They'd Rather Have Enroth From Rochester Play Than Me" Lalime immediately springs to mind. The Sabres were absolutely stymied by him in the playoffs that year. I forget, late 90's early 00's.

Smoke screen, he wanted Leino all along. I only know of 1 player that was going to get an offer sheet and that was Parise, they wanted him also. I know we aren't talking about offer sheets.

Poulliot is a former number 8 overall... Like I said Fleury is much better then given credit for. I think the Sabres are playoff team next year with Fluery... but I agree 8 overall is a lot to give up.

Seems like the Bylsma-Fluery connection makes it at least possibility if the Pens shop Fleury

Casey Bailey was the Toronto guy I was thinking of, but I think my point stands though. We have been pitching UFA's on Buffalo for a while now and have yet to land any. Sure, they might have personal reasons for signing with other towns, but hey we were sold that, "Pegula always gets his man," so fare he's at least 0-5.
- sskkoo1

I think it will get better. Murray is building this team the right way. We need to put some distance between the plain vanilla- racing for 8 th place sabres, the tank sabres, and what murray is building now. We have an incredible asset in a billionaire owner who loves hockey and the city. We will be a lot more appealing when a top ufa looks at our team and says "i could put that team over the top, and they matched any offer i got".

Heres the move:

Anaheim gets 2016 first round pick (8th overall), 2016 3rd, Tyler Ennis, Nick Baptiste and Mark Pysyk

Buffalo gets: Corey Perry, Cam Fowler

Buffalo signs Vesey

Vesey-Eichel-Perry
Kane-Oreilly-Reinhart
Foligno-Girgensons-Fasching
Moulson-Larsson-Gio/D-lo

Fowler-Risto
Mccabe-Bogo
Gorges-Nelson

(this is just for fun and I have no idea if this is even close to what it would take)

- MCGUIZZY

Wow that is a hell of an offer my friend, phone it in please.
