I never cared for them, over the last month I heard them on the stern show and listened to a lot of their work, and the grew on me big time

maybe Gionta and gorges will be enough veteran leadership...the youth movement is upon us and they're gonna have players like carrier and bailey knocking on the door next season...maybe even Rodrigues as well...schaller also...he's paid his dues and will get an nhl shot somewhere if he isn't re-signed by buffalo...

as for Deslauriers...imo, he needs a good camp

I guess if I could choose, I'd take Legwand over Gio, mostly because his role is known, he's very good on the pk, and we don't have to worry he's going to bounce up to top-6 and hog ice time from someone younger, although if Gio skates in the top-6 and gets as many pp minutes as last year there will be a revolt.

I also like that Legwand is a former #2 overall...even if it was a century ago, our two #2 overall guys can get stuff from him that they can't get elsewhere.

The only guy I had that will be off the books is Moulson so that brings you to $63 million between 9 guys. Take out Kane that $58 million between 8 guys. That's extremely top heavy. Not to mention Lehner gets around $4 million. $62 million and you have 9 guys signed. Even if the cap is $82 million you have $20 million to disperse between 14 guys and no first round draft picks to replenish the roster either.

I'm all for going to get great players and great players are difference makers especially in the post season but you can't play them with AHLers. To me it's all about balance. I want a great team not just one or two great players.

Same with Foligno, Larsson, Bailey, Fasching
That's added to the "core" of...

That's 10 forwards, so u could even move out Girgs as well to save about 1mil
Then you'd fill in with any number of forward prospects, some that are rated with top9 potential

Schaller, Karabacek, Baptiste, Oloffson, Possler, Carrier, Catenacci, Hurley, Cornel, Malone, Estephan...
I know I'm forgetting some guys too
And obviously not all those guys will work out,
But all we need in that case is for Bailey or Fasching to become a legit top6 guy and then we should be able to make up a solid bottom 6 out of all the rest of them

Where it probably limits us is on defense
So we'd need McCabe or Guhle to become a legit partner for Risto
Bogo prob has to be moved
And Pysyk &/or Nelson need to become legit top4 guys

As far as replenishing without 1st round picks go...
We'd have to hit on a couple of our 2nd & 3rd round picks
But also, we'd be presumably good enough that college UFAs would sign here, and solid vet UFAs would sign in the cheap...
And the returns we'd get from trading Kane, Ennis & Bogo & even Girgs could all help restock the shelves a bit

Ok let's say that's the case, but you had the craving for the sub to begin with right? You didn't just drive to Wegmans walk up to the sub line and have absolutely no idea what sub you wanted. You already had that thought that you wanted a sub, so you pictured a sub, so how does it take you forever to figure it out? Just order the sub that you thought of when you had your craving. I never understood that.
