I agree, continue to draft and develop young players before they hit that cliff in two years. That'll be five years of solid building for the team. - LeftCoaster
I'm okay with that. |

I know exactly what you mean. in a couple of years we will have Boeser, this years pick , Demko , JV and McCann settled into the lineup hopefully. It was a move I was looking at to fill a gaping hole that will need to be filled in the next two years.
Its a one time move ,just like Calgary did to get Hamilton - VANTEL
I think Calgary, last summer, were way ahead of where the Canucks are though. They already had Monahan, Backlund and 19 year old Sam Bennett to play center, they had Gaudreau, Brodie and other young guys in place.
Canucks have Horvat and a bunch of question marks. |

I would be okay with that as well, maybe Kyle Turris or? Tough to trade those #1's though. |

IMO this summer is year four. Next one is five, then the Sedins retire...they need some quality kids in place, on top of existing, in the next two years. |

I knew he was a big centre. His numbers aren't bad on Portland . I don't know him at all.
I wonder why he is not drafted at 20 yrs old though. - VANTEL
Good point, I just realized that he was still draft eligible. Seems like a project player who is a late bloomer. |

Too much youth can hurt also. I think you need a couple of older vets maybe 3 or so . a strong mid range of 25-28 and then some youth.
I would not be surprised to see JB send some youth to Utica this year including JV and Hutton.

Toronto may change their mind. - VANTEL
Too bad that wont know about stamkos first cause if they knew they could get stammer then they should draft laine |

It has hurt us minimally so far. We expected it though. |

I think this year with our top 5 we will not be drafting a first line centre. Time is running out.

I think most people here last year expected a bubble team not a bottom 3 .It may have hurt us more than we expected. I do think though at TDL Benning was tanking

Nah. I think Mathews either way. |

Our number one centre for the last 7 years was drafted at number three spot. I think after the failure this year of trying to tank and winning a number 5 spot in the draft will kill any other future plans to tank. There is no game changer at #5.
I think Canucks going forward, the game plan will be to win. We will need to look at other ways such as trade or finding a gem in Europe or later in the draft to find the #1 C replacement.
If we do trade for a number one centre it will not be cheap. Is Bo a number one centre? |

If you run down the 30 lineups in the league, not every top line center was taken top five, hopefully Benning can work his magic! |

You can sell fan base on a 5 year rebuild not a 10 year rebuild
This is year 4 |

I haven't heard Canucks brass say anything about a rebuild, so how can it be year 4? |

I think form interviews it'd pretty evident he thinks dubois CNS be that piece.. But knowing Canucks luck we'll definitely be taking the back up plan |

Anaheim was stupid to get rid of BB. He is not the problem. Their leadership is. First off --- Kesler is the most selfish player known to man... he dives and almost refuses to pass the puck, will not go into corners and opening whines and puts on teh bench.
How many times does Getzlaf get a chance at the big time? I mean, as the #1 guy. He needs support.
Perry is a one trick pony. Good trick but not a complete game. |
