Didn't he used to be 18?
- storm88
That's why they didn't make the playoff this year and Hartley got fired. |

IF he is still available at #5 I am sure he will be a Canuck - VANTEL
Should make for an interesting draft. Seems like Dubois will be picked at 4. I don't see him lasting that 1 extra spot. Do you think Marner and Dvorak inflated Tkachuk's draft status? Perhaps JB will trade down if Dubois goes at 4.
Either way I trust his drafting knowledge. |

Marner Dvorak Probably inflated his stats a bit but he's still a great prospect and van fans should be pumped to have a chance at him. Watched lots of London games watching Marner and he's really good around the net and at just putting the puck home. Pretty gritty too. |

After the Chicago series last year and now these last two series, I'm starting to think Hedman might be the best d-man in the nhl.
I'm hoping if Dubois is off the board they still go with tkachuk, he got a nose for the puck around the net and we could use it. |

Maybe but Marner scored at 2 ppg in his draft year without Tkachuk so hard to say. Tkachuk is a good player. That whole line is just ridiculous. |

Too much youth can hurt also. I think you need a couple of older vets maybe 3 or so . a strong mid range of 25-28 and then some youth.
I would not be surprised to see JB send some youth to Utica this year including JV and Hutton. - VANTEL
Agree. We lack in the 25-28yr old range. Everyone wanting to dump good veterans for picks r asking for a team of 19-21yr olds. Do that & we r Buffalo & Edm 2.0
Those same ppl will be crying a new tune year after year if they get their way.
If trading any or all vets is the answer then ppl oughta start acknowledging now that JB is a draft guru & explain who the great UFA's signed will be to fill the gap once the team is blown up. 2nd off who will pay to watch all of this? |

Our number one centre for the last 7 years was drafted at number three spot. I think after the failure this year of trying to tank and winning a number 5 spot in the draft will kill any other future plans to tank. There is no game changer at #5.
I think Canucks going forward, the game plan will be to win. We will need to look at other ways such as trade or finding a gem in Europe or later in the draft to find the #1 C replacement.
If we do trade for a number one centre it will not be cheap. Is Bo a number one centre? - VANTEL
Next C available r Jost Brown & Keller. Do we trade down & take a shot? |

I've been on board with filling 24-28 gap for months, welcome to the party fellas. It's what makes sense to add and I think jb knows it, having brought in sutter, sbisa and looking to replace Higgins/burrows. Sounds like he's bringing Hamhuis back, hopefully not with a NTC! |

Nothing against Marner but saying he is the straw that stirs the drink always is getting tiresome. Domi & Tkachuk will make the jump to NHL easier than C.
Marner could be as billed but also could be a 2C only.
Back to the Canucks....
We need to make a serious push for Stamkos to fill our top C going forward.
All it cost is money & fits into our retool mode & helps us avoid a true rebuild.
10m/7yrs with the cap we have now & will have the next 1-2yrs is perfectly fine.
If Dubois is gone Tkachuk is a solid LW to replace Dank. |

We need a veteran presence/leadership. But I am not against moving a Hansen if it is a good return.
Looking at who is gone- Vrbata, Prust, Hamhuis, Bartkowski, Weber
and hopefully Higgins. I am torn on Burrows, wouldn't be against him coming back but he could still be traded, summer or tdl, if we eat some salary.
I'd like to see at least one ufa signed that can score and some grit added to the lineup.
Our lineup looked old a couple seasons ago, now we have Baertschi, Bo, JV, Gaunce, Etem, Granlund, Vey, McCann, Hutton, Tryamkin who are all relatively young/inexperienced. |

Yes that is very good assessment IMO. I too would make a hockey trade for Hansen & not for picks. Burr is a tough one but when the above vets r gone he can still have a role mentoring if he can earn a spot. It always comes back to tye 24-28 yr old deficit we face & JB has mentioned that many times & where we need to focus most. The draft will keep us replenishing the cupboard & force competition as they develop. JB knows what is needed & works his ass off trying to rectify it. Key UFA's will be needed & will be interesting to see who he targets. |

Here you go Vantel....pretty tempting at 33.
http://canucksarmy.com/20...profiles-45-logan-stanley - CanuckDon
I've only seen 3 games of Stanley playing & for his size idk if his hockey smarts equal his stature. He seems a bit lost out there at times. He is only 17 but is questionable to me what he will become on the play i watched. Not a large sampling mind you but i am not going to get too excited about him. Niemaleinen stands out more to me if he is still around & a few others as well.
I'm guessing size is not always a good thing & JB has no problem picking 5'11" or 6' D as in he likes Been a lot. |

LW Matt Martin 27yrs @ 6' 3" i like at a very cap friendly price. Maybe 2.5m/3yrs.
If Granlund is not in the line up Martin on the 4th line with Gaunce at C suits me fine.
RW Troy Brouwer a BC boy @ 30yrs old & 6' 3" at the right price can be a good fit it Burr is demoted or retires. Idk what his orice would be but say a home town discount for 2.5m/2-3yrs could work if a roster spot makes sense as in JV is in Utica.
Just 2 ideas to address size & grit in the bottom 6.
Sven Bo Brouwer
Martin Gaunce Dorsett
Rodin plays with Sutter prolly
Pick it part if u wish. Thx |

Hopefully thats Tryamkin turns out to be.
Also a UFA can fill that role going forward.
Idk who u like but run it by me. |

I think RNH would be a good fit. Trade McCann + for him. His value is low, and we'd be able to get our number 1 centre. |

Ok my only question is this.
Can RNH stand up to our divisions top C's or shutdown C's eg Kesler Carter?
IMO the answer is no & he is a 2C in my way of thinking. |

I understand that totally. Stamkos bucks that trend or we draft one & hope it pans out. Dubois if there could be the answer eventually.
As of know Sutter & soon Bo make us better off than RNH without 6m per. |
