I think RNH would be a good fit. Trade McCann + for him. His value is low, and we'd be able to get our number 1 centre. - Scooby_Doo
Maccann will be better or close and not 6 mil a year. What a joke of a 6 mil player |

Give stammer max everything
Draft tkachuk
Sign Lucic
Tkachuk stammer Lucic
Sedin Sedin Sutter
Baer Horvat Virtanen/Hansen
Dorsett GranLund/McCann whoever
Mix lines as needed that's a solid team - The_Kuze
As i keep pushing its Stamkos that needs to be sold on signing here.
The domino effect happens after that or we stay the course we r on.
I'm sure many ppl tire of me going on about Stamkos but its rare a player of his stature ever becomes available. |

IMO this summer is year four. Next one is five, then the Sedins retire...they need some quality kids in place, on top of existing, in the next two years. - LeftCoaster
yup keep rebuilding through the draft. worry about making the playoffs in 2 years. adding a couple free agents turns you in to wild a team that will fight to make the playoffs making it once in a while and never getting out of the first round... NO THANKS |

Building thru the draft will not change. Keep on saying a playoff team out in the 1st is negative & does not promote competition. Who really cares if out in the 1st when it keeps players motivated & hungry to excel into a cup contender. U don't build a winner thinking not making the playoffs. Get to the playoffs & see who ups their game & use the experience to progress. The fans will not pay to watch a team saying it will take 2yrs+ before we r a playoff team. Thats how we find who is a real player worthy of being on the team to be a contender.

Now you know how I feel about all these quick fix ideas. - A_SteamingLombardi
Is it really considered quick fixing when we started addressing the issue3 summers ago with Bo , 2 summers ago with McCann, and last summer with Sutter?
We are just missing that # 1 guy . |

Quick fix ideas r thinking trading away a JM for RNH somehow make us better.
Or Lucic for that matter. JB stated u improve thru the draft & trades & smart UFA signings. All 3 r needed not just 1 or 2.

yes i know but i am only countering ppl of the tank nature that is unreasonable.
If happens so be it but planning to do it is folly.

Im sure the 3M per year which is extremely high for a coach had something to do with it.

Bringing back guys like Hamhuis Burrows and Higgins is a sure fit formula to be one and done in the playoffs if they could move out of the bottom 10.
Bringing in a few guys like Brouwer Martin and someone else might give you a chance to win a round or two. |

When healthy RNH's PPG suggest otherwise. Unless you feel McCann is going to be a solid 20 goal/60 point guy…which I don't see. 20 goal guy and that's a 'big' maybe.
RNH still has a bit more upside than McCann IMO it's just the injury bug…RNH can't seem to avoid it. |

Fix one problem at a time.
Bring back last years team and wait to improve by draft is exactly what Oilers did. Ten years later you make it from bottom 5 to bottom 10. |

I don't see how character players can help us increase our goal production by 50%+ |

At 6m per i hope so. RNH has a Hall & who do we have?
Better to stay the course instead of giving Edm cap space.
Anyone we trade for an RNH only creates another hole.
We need more offense from our D & PP & that will increase our odds of contending for the playoffs. Til then quick fixes r not the answer. |

So u believe next year will be the same if status quo?
Big & long injuries to key vets will happen again?
None of the kids will improve?
I beg to differ. |

Last year Hank played a good part of the year injured. Vrbata quit on the team . Sutter was injured most of the year. That is half of your top 6 . Fix that first and that alone will go a long way.
Our D was horrible . Weber Bart and Hamhuis should be gone. Tryamkin although unproven by the end of this upcoming year may develop into a top 4 but no guarantee . You have said it a few times let's see what Larsen can do. Benning has to go out this year and either draft , trade or sign two top four Dmen.
I don't think it is a big stretch to make the playoffs this year and try to win one round. That should be the realistic goal . You can't build a cup winner in one year. |

IF he is still available at #5 I am sure he will be a Canuck - VANTEL
do you pick him over tkachuk? Both sound good. Tkachuk is likely more of a sure thing.
The thing w dubois is we already know it will take him many years to develop....elite power forwards are typical this way. Lots of teams give up on these types....bertuzzi was an example. After 4 years in the system NYI gave up on him and offered him to van, where 2 years later he blossomed. Neely was another...
Do we look for tkachuk to add skill immediately or to develop dubois for a C position?

I do respect your knowledge & views on what we need to do to turn the team around.
I find u pragmatic & reasonable vs the tanknation types. |
