How is trading for a 23 year old future 1C a quick fix?
given Edm's position, it wouldn't cost a fortune and could be win-win for McCann ++
If they would do Tanev and McCann for RNH, i would be all over that and sign Hamhuis and a UFA. - dbot
I personally hate this trade as well.. Rnh has skill but I don't see him as a #1 center.. He's soft and injury prone.. Better suited for the east.. IllI'll take my chances with McCann |

I see everyone panicked about not having a replacement for hank and I'm with everyone. But what if Bo is gonna be our #1 and our wingers are gonna carry this team going forward as the offensive beasts.. Toews has never been an insanely offensive player but when paired with Kane and such he doesn't need to be.. Tkachuk bo boeser.. It looks like a #1 line if I've seen one.. Strong net presence on the left side with grit, two way center with offensive fair and a pure goal scorer on the right.. I get it would be nice to have Bo at 2 but I'm just suggesting we might not need to if our wingers turn out the wau we hope - MaWLz
We will have to leave it to JBs superior drafting to find that replacement. You never know when your 3rd and 5 th round picks become datsyke or zetterburg (wasnt he a 7th rd?).
the comforting thing is that in his 2 years here every single one of his picks has been good in every round.
He must be the hardest working GM in the nhl is terms of scouting
Not so sure Bo is a true #1C...I hope so, but can anyone see him being thorton? Toews? Stamkos? No.... I think he's a real good #2C tho... |

Yup that's what I was getting at really is that I don't think bo is really a #1 but the fact that were potentially about to have 2 elite level wingers makes it so he doesn't have to be.. He just needs to play his 2 way game and contribute to them |

If we go trade a D route then for me its convince Edler to accept a trade.
Then resigning Hammer is fine by me if a good hometiwn discount.
Say 3-3.5m/2-3yrs with a limited NTC of 12 teams max.
We need a vet spot opened up before we go that route so we have flexibility.
VERY important we find more offence from our D or our PP will keep on struggling.
The forward group also must generate more goals overall. |

I think he will be a number 1 . His numbers in the first two years are ahead of Hank. Small statistic but I see him getting bigger stronger and knowing the game better |

Well, if he was a sure fire 1C, then we'd have to pony up a heck of a lot more than Tanev/McCann...gotta give to get and i'm not even sure that'd be enough to get it done.
But since he's local, young and talented, i say it's a lot more likely than trading for many other young C's....plus more likely than signing Stamkos.
Will RNH be a 1C? Who knows, but I think you have a much better chance than McCann, his ceiling is higher.
Tanev is good, but i don't love him personally and i think we'd have a better chance unearthing another D gem like him, than getting a future 1C. |

This is where the Canucks can sell hope.
JB is one hard working SOB & i give him an A+.
I believe that Bo surrounded with stud wingers can be a fine 1C at worst a 2C.
While we search & draft or develop a true 1C i can live with Bo no probs if no Stamkos for example. |

ya he may be in the #1 slot and be a decent C for us. Franchise C I'm not so sure. I like him and its hard to know how far he can go....just prob not elite level C.
comparing with sedin....its not like Hank is an amazingly elite C....hes good yes. His talent is amazing and definitely elite level no doubt. Great player but in terms of positional comparison he's OK compared to elite C's. |

maybe...and yes it would suffice....and if we get an opportunity to upgrade C take it. Since its a weaker spot, perhaps we should look at elite UFA C if there are any, even just a few years to show our guys how to get it done |

Well, Griess got owned by the Lightning. He had a good run, but he's not that good. It's a shame NYI didn't have Halak to fall back on. |

Pretty much true but Getzlaf was a no show these playoffs & Kopitar & Toews not any better.
No matter what when your 1C doesn't play like a 1 its usually 1 n done.

Dallas also faces that dilemna as well otherwise they look pretty good if they had found a way to have to get Hammer also then who knows. |

Hammer would not help them. They need a goalie and serious help on D. Hammer is a No 6 at this point in his career |

He is not a #6 on the Stars or the Hawks sorry
I see no serious help on D to be had from anywhere or the Oilers etc would be better. |

Juicy rumour from inside the organization.....
No 5 pick plus Mccann to Colarado in exchange for their No 10 pick and Barrie. |

Verrrry interesting.
If we got Barrie and hit a home run taking one of those 3 D...could fix our D depth problem pretty quick.
edit. Just noticed he's a RFA. Sign n trade? |

Colarado is struggling to sign him...it makes a lot of sense. They could take Macavoy or Brown at 10. Top 4 PP QB plus a center with a 1 C ceiling. Makes a lot of sense really |

Of course & behind such defensive stalwarts like Goligoski & Klingberg.
Saying he is a #6 is laughable & more than underrating his ability.
Say no more or defend how he is so low on the talent chart. |

Like it, but if we're not getting Dubois or Tkachuk, I want the next highest ranked center to replace McCann.
