The Canucks should trade Edler to the Oilers for #4 and re-sign Hammer for a couple years. - LeftCoaster
With either Dubois or Tkachuck being the 4rth pick and one of them being available at 5th... this trade makes little sense. Moving up more than one spot makes sense but not to 4rth...

"Benning said the 2nd pick they got as compensation from CLB is in play - its likely a 2018 pick. Hoping to use it to sweeten a D trade deal."
Benning giving more picks away - LeftCoaster
Meh, it was a free pick that was bought by the Aquillini's. I trust JB to use it to acquire a young defenseman and not use it to sweeten a deal for someone heading towards or in their twilight years like a Kronwall, Ehrhoff or Girardi. Probably a good piece to use for a Hamonic deal or poach one of those young D from ANA/DAL |

I'll see how it plays out but if he gives up a high 2nd for another Sbisa I'm gonna (frank)in snap |

one piece of the new core for one piece of the old core. We end up with a center and a winger. I don't see it happening cause, as lefty said, Edler will not want to go to edmonton. |

I really want us to draft Tkachuk regardless of IF Dubois is available. Tkachuk got a hat-trick the other night and is averaging 2.79 PPG for his career in the playoffs. The kid is a beast. |

I'm liking him too, that net-front grit is what we need. somebody willing to get the dirty goals, he's got some grit too. Him and Virtanen on a top-6 line would be imposing. I trust JB, if he thinks Dubois can be a 1C so do I. |

Hopefully ppl will lay off on trading Tanev & appreciate him more.

His player of the game honours only make me want to trade him even more now....
He keeps this up and I might write JB and start a petition to trade him... strike while the iron is hot. |

I'm not a big fan of the fire sale tank, but if you're Vancouver you have no untouchables and should explore every avenue to be better a few years from now. If the rebuild goes well and the team is ready to compete in 3 years, is Tanev a part of that? Probably but not to the extent he would be right now, the asset will have depreciated. He has a great contract, which increases his value but selling at peak is important. Imagine trading Burrows before this current contract had kicked in? The return would have been massive compared to his value now.
Chicago has done well to sell high on pieces, Vancouver should look at the same. They are in no rush to make a deal, but should keep an eye on things for sure |

Also bringing back players like Hamhuis Burrows and Higgins is not rebuilding. It is more like stagnating. - VANTEL

The challenge is selling tickets. I think ownership wants to be able to market the team to ticket buyers as a playoff team that once they are in the playoffs, who knows what can happen... this draft, regardless of who picks ahead of us, I think we will get a pretty good player.
In fact, I think if we pick Tkachuk, he is likely more NHL ready than Dubois.
For the right return, I'd trade any player. |

I would try and trade Tanev to Toronto.
Tanev + Bo +CBJ2nd + Van2nd for 1OA
We use that and draft Laine
Then trade 5OA to Edm for RNH and Emd 2nd.
Use the Edm 2nd to draft D.
The lines will be
Laine RNH JV
Sedin Sedin Sutter
Bear McCan Hansen
Dorset Grunland Etem/Gaunce
Edler Tree
Larsen Hutton
Sbisa Schenn
