While we may be able to better than Foligno on the 3rd line, it could be worse.
Like Yak on it. - dadeadhead
Bringing a "Yak" onboard would have been something I could see the Sabres doing 5-10 years ago ................ not anymore. GMTM is too smart for that. |

He's a useless pile of sh!t.
They should've went with Murray or moved the pick.
Something I said since way before the draft. - dadeadhead
Should of went with Galchenyuk |

I will definitely give you that. I'd suggest he's a bottom 3 guy only and does not belong on a 3rd line for a perennial playoff caliber team (like Buffalo aspires to be).
He's a good dude but he is very "upgradeable".
To me .....he's the prototypical Sabre player that even though he's not bringing much to the table, the city and the fans love him so they overlook his deficiencies (there's more than one on this team)..... all the while fret and moan about never winning/sniffing a Cup.
The days of having just 2 productive lines in hockey are over .......... you gotta have a 3rd line that can bring it and has no weakness's. Basically your 3rd line needs to be on par with your top 6 guys. Look at the teams still playing as perfect examples.
Foligno has a place on a 3rd line but that team is a lottery team year in and year out. - fastek
I disagree on Foligno. I think he's a good player. It's tough to gauge guys who have had to develop on this tire fire of a team the three years prior, but he looked more than capable this year.
I'd obviously rather have him on the 4th line but if he's your 8th or 9th best forward I don't think your doomed. |

Would he be a "good" player on Dallas ? Pittsburgh ? St. Louis ? San Jose ? Tampa ?
Or a better question ..... is he capable of even making any of those rosters? |

I think he makes all of those rosters.
He's much better than Steve Ott, Ryan Reaves.
Better than Cedric Paquette, Johnathon Marchessault,
As good or better than Wingels or Nieto. Better than Zubrus. |

Everyone overlooks the fact that he's become a very good passer who hits his target more often than not.

Is Murray on record saying he doesn't like Russians?? Everyone seems to think this. I know he traded Zadorov and Grigo but I dont see him cleaning them out left and right. Did we have any others? Makarov maybe? |

This...i will take Foligno...a guy who works his (frank)in ass off and wants to be a part of this team at any cost over that useless (frank) Yakupov who is gonna bolt to the KHL at the earliest sign of adversity
If Foligno can establish himself on the PK then he is worth way more than the few extra goals Yakupov might pot when he decides to play hockey |

I think he's fine on a 3rd or 4th line going forward. As long as he doesn't try and dangle through 3 guys like he's Pat Kane |

The curse of a Sabre fan in a nutshell.... "works hard and wants to play here."
This is the logic that allowed the city to embrace Ted Nolan. |

There are plenty of Russians who are good enough to fill out an NHL team.
The Sabres have always shied away from them, it seems. Does not mean it is right.
And I know there have been plenty of ones that have not been good for Buffalo. |

The key is to have one or 2 of these guys on your team....not a team full of them....and Foligno (again if he can play on the PK) is worth keeping around |
