Still plenty for Konecny to experience in juniors. Late post season and Memorial Cup CHL hockey is very different from the competition and intensity he has primarily faced to date. He was used primarily as a role player on Canada's WJC team. Hopefully the coach next season has more sense to expand his role. - Baxter27
i guess, and believe me, i'm not opposed if they think he still needs to go back down, this would be a 4th season for him too, and he improved dramatically from year 1/2 to year 3, especially being on 2 different teams, having to adapt to new players, system, coaches, etc. he went from 1.45 points a game in the games he played with the 67's, to 1.80 points a game playing with sarnia. sample sizes are equal, basically 30 games with each team.
I just feel like he wouldnt be out of place up here, but i know the coaches will do whatever is right. we can hold onto him for what, 5 games and then send him back to juniors? or is that just the AHL? |

Yeah that team was coached terribly it seemed.
I think Konecny needs to really impress to stay. I think the biggest thing would be going back to add some strength. |

Can hold onto him for 9 games then make the decision. If he doesn't look out of place, I would give him his 9 game try out. However, he needs to show more than that if they're going to keep him up. |

Flyers need SKILLED puck handlers/players and less muckers. Watching Giroux trying to carry the puck into the Caps zone, and getting rejected time and time again, Get some skilled puckhandlers please. I'd have liked to see Ghost double shifted on the PP and let him play some wing |

Lowry had the deepest pool of junior hockey talent to choose from. Selected 20 players and decided he could only trust 5 of them. 2 of which cost them dearly against Finland. |

So what happens if just say we have a repeat of what happened this year?
I myself would be leary to sign Mason to something near 6. But I also understand the only issue with Neuvirth has seemed to be his injury history.
If I was the GM, just my thinking, I would look to move Mason to a team like Calgary whose needs goaltending bad, and then look to sign James Reimer. I don't think Reimer is nearly as bad as what people think and actually really surprised Toronto didn't move Bernier over Reimer.
But that's me. bring on the rocks and pitchforks for my head. - J35Bacher
I'd stick with Mason.

Until it doesn't happen that is my plan.
And then when I am let down and Stamkos goes to (frank)ing Buffalo I'll move to the regular banter of Vandevelde being a black hole of offense. - J35Bacher

Pittsburgh's window will be closing soon. In 2-3 years every significant player on their roster will be in their 30's with a poor prospect pool behind them. I also think their current blue line is pretty average so it will be interesting if they do win the cup this year. It would be the worst blue line as far as talent to win it since Carolina IMO.
Washington does have some nice young players that should keep their window open. But it doesn't matter. Championships are won at the draft table. So either the Flyers will outdraft the teams ahead of them or they won't. Current ground doesn't matter. - psuhockey
I'd like to agree here but I cant. Malkin and Crosby are generational talents who will be great into their 30's. Letang is still in his mid 20's and they have a great young goalie. They finally found a decent coach that is telling them to shut up and play hockey. They should be around for awhile.

Konency was really good in last year's training camp. I'm sure already has gotten stronger. No guarantees certainly but if he is incrementally better then last year I think he sticks

I wonder if his body is filled out enough to deal with the physicality the NHL beings. Any word on his shoulder? I've heard nothing since before Sarnia went into the playoffs. |

Whats everyone's thoughts on Loui Erikson? Multiple times now I'm hearing the Flyers will be all over this guy. I hope it's no more than 3 years. If it's no more than 3 years I can live with almost any kind of cap hit. He would be a useful piece |

He's 30 YO. I would prefer he get no more than 3 years.
That said, I'd really prefer if the Flyers stayed away and found someone a bit more cost effective. Maybe wait a year or so before going after what a guy like Loui might cost. |
