It does however provide a weak form of what you're asking, TOI/Gm. It's more or less insinuated instead of fact that if he's playing top 4 minutes, he's playing against 2nd or 3rd line players. On a team with a bad corsi, his possession is reasonably impressive. If he was a bit more productive in the offensive zone, this entire board would (frank)ing love him.

I think what you're saying is if you stop watching him, and just look at the stats he compiles against weak competition, you might think he's pretty good?? And if he would only produce as the offensive d-man he's supposed to be, we might really like him?

(frank)ing Mike Schopp with the god damn eye test. Just because the kid is extremely subtle and doesn't produce offense means he's not very good? I'm not here saying he's a 1st pairing DMan. But he's extremely serviceable as a middle Dman and even a #5 on a good team.

Like I said, it's not just that they went out and acquired Mike Weber. It's that they went out and acquired Mike Weber and did nothing else. Great teams figure out a way to make it work.

I never said he was the reason they lost the series. I said that the fact that they identified him as a guy that could help them get over the hump is what lost them that series. It's poor personnel evaluation.

And as far as "who else was available", it's not like they made that trade at 3pm on deadline day. They made that trade days before, which means they identified him as someone they wanted. They said "yep, that's the guy that's going to help us for a playoff run".

he was simply a depth signing...at $833k, that's about all they could fit in under the cap...according to general fanager they finished the season with about $475k in cap-space

I give Pysyk and Girgs the benefit of the doubt that last year was a fluke and they both bounce back and embrace the roles coach gives them. Both are young and have shown they can perform at a high level in this league.

If Gio is at all shuffled into top 6 or getting pp minutes over Rhino then Coach goes on my dead pool.

By the end of June there may be a horrible loss in the Rochester food scene.
