Is it? I don't think he's anything special, but how in God's name has Nelson jumped him after playing under 10 games ? - sbroads24
With two notable exceptions, I would say that Nelson's game and Pysyk's game are pretty similar.
The first role of a defender is to keep the other team from scoring. This is best accomplished by (a) taking an angle to the attackers that prevents them from getting close to the crease; or (b) in those instances where (a) is impossible, clearing the attackers away to prevent screens and tips.
In his many games, Pysyk has shown a propensity to be bad at (a); and totally incapable of (b). In his 10 games, Nelson has shown considerable ability at both.
"Evander Kane is unique, for a number of reasons, but on the ice it’s because he’s an elite-level shot generator, but finishes like a checking winger. There are only a handful of players in the league that have generated more than 500 shots over the past three seasons, while scoring on fewer than 8% of them, and none of those players are playing more than 21 minutes per game, as Kane did for the Sabres last season. "
Yet I'm laughed at for thinking he should be on a checking line

But guys like Grosek, Audette(who did have a really good season with Atlanta, but otherwise was at his best here), Dawe, Curtis Brown. All those guys were meh players that played way above their heads for Nolan.

Hey guys! we can't have any game on the West Coast earlier than 10pm because the world doesn't revolve around the east coast and west coast fans arn't out of work yet. Especially not a game 7.

Edit: Derek Plante too. - Wetbandit1
Nolan got career years from a few guys in NY too. He also always gets good goaltending.
Nolan is past his time but he's not as bad as some think IMO

Some on here would put Nolan in the same category as Leino, Darcy, post-concussion Connelly, Hodgson, and now i guess we have to add Lioneater to that list

....ooooo wait - feetontheair22
It's 9, not 7. Come back when it's a 7pm game on a non-holiday weeknight like you were female doging about. The Cup finals on the west coast start at 8:00. They don't want to have games past midnight on the East coast. Otherwise they would do it at 9 for the Cup finals.
