Hasek! no doubt... for a while he was the best player in the NHL. while I'm thrilled we have jack if he is even half as good as Hasek was we're golden.

Hasek, no contest. Among the best ever, arguably the best ever. Jack may turn out to be great, even HOF worthy, but that just doesn't get you to Dom. I'm also on record as saying I'd draft Carey Price first overall in a fantasy draft of every NHLer.

I'm not playing a joke...its 2 nascar drivers whose best battles took place in the mid to late 90's...i'm really not surprised there arn't alot of youtube videos out there

EDIT: and their battles for the cup took place over an entire season....its not easy to distill that into a youtube clip

Hasek is a Hall of Famer. He is the only reason why they made the finals in '99.

I don't think Hasek is a top 10 player of all time, but he got to the finals with Stu Barnes.

Right but one plays a position that's 10x more important now. Look at the Tampa game, the All Star goalie goes down and they have no trouble winning.

If that's Hedman or Kucherov it might be a different scenario.

NOt claiming to be an expert on Barrie, but giving up 8th overall plus plus for one D man who barely blocks shots, barely hits, barely comes through in the clutch? Holy crap I want to puke just thinking about it. Yeah we need a puck moving guy that can pot a few but I gotta think (and thank God) TM is way too smart to do that, and then to have to overpay the guy.


If we're giving up that much I'd hope it's for someone more established but not too old, and a little more responsible on the D side.

Absolutely. Single-handedly won games. If we had him in his prime coming out of the lockout, we win back to back cups.

So if Fleury and Bishop do not come back and play, the total salary for goalies for all 4 teams remaining is less than $7.5m. Fleury at $5.75 and Bishop at $5.95 almost as much as the other 4. What do you think Boston would be able to do if they weren't spending $7.5m on Rask. I think Buffalo really needs to concentrate on building a good D with responsible forwards and the goalies we have in the system will be good enough to get us very far.
