I don't know anyone in the Leafs thread that thinks that we need Liane. Sure, I'd take him if we could trade for the second overall pick, but it's Matthews, all day and twice on Sunday. So today, it's a no brainer. Get this guy into the lineup and start searching for that top end goaltender and top pair defenseman. Achieve that and we're in for long playoff runs, in about 3 years.

Finally, a year that I can cheer for the Leafs. Tanking isn't easy. True believers unite!

I've seen too much bad hockey for too many years. I've been trying to see them Tank for almost 10 years. Finally, they did what was needed. You can only get guys like Matthews by finishing dead last. Sure, you can get lucky, but to get the top end talent, you have to pick 1st. We have such a plethora of young talent, on the farm and in junior now, plus lots of draft picks.. We can afford to package up some of it to land a top 2 defender and a goaltender. I'd like the Leafs to find a way to take some of their assets and trade down into the top 10. Maybe they can get a shot at that Finnish defender on the London Knights.

He missed last years draft by a few days. He's only 4 months younger then Mitch Marner who went in the draft year before. He's more of a mature player, after playing in the Swiss league. He's ready.

If the Leafs ice the all-rookie team next year, we are probably going to get a nice pick at the 2017 draft.

The future looks bright, but we may have to drive through another poopstorm to get there.

I think most basketball rules are stupid, but I do like how the clock doesn't start until you touch the ball, so guys walk up the court with the ball rolling up the floor.
